Crime of the Month
HURON — Huron County Crime
Stoppers and the Huron County OPP are
asking for your help in solving the fol-
lowing break, enter and theft.
Between Sept. 1 and 5, suspects broke
into a cottage on Lakeshore Drive in
Oakwood Park in South Huron while it
was being renovated. The doors had
been removed on the residence, leaving
it unsecured. Thieves entered the cottage
and stole a slate fireplace mantle.
If you have any information regarding
this crime or any other crime, call Crime
Stoppers at 1 -800 -222 -TIPS. You will not
have to reveal your name or go to court
and you may be eligible for a cash
reward of up to $2.000.
Fasten your seatbelts Ontario
Seatbelt safety blitzes and
child safety seat inspection
clinics will be held across the
province during the first two
weeks of October to remind
drivers and passengers to
buckle up and make sure chil-
dren are safely secured.
Local police, fire, emergency medical
services, public health units and volunteer
organizations will join forces to spread the
word that seatbelts, child safety seats and
booster seats save lives.
Failing to wear your seatbelt while dri-
ving makes you about 38 times more like-
ly to be killed in a crash than if you did
buckle up. That is why Ontario's one per-
son, one seatbelt law requires every
occupant in a motor vehicle to buckle up
properly. Drivers must ensure children
under age 16 are correctly secured in
the appropriate child safety seat,
booster seat or seatbelt.
QUICK FACTS
• In 1976, Ontario became the first
province in Canada to make seatbelts
mandatory.
• Driving without a seatbelt carries a
fme of $110 and two demerit points upon
conviction. About 680,000 Ontarians still
do not regularly buckle up.
• Booster seats and child safety seats
are mandatory for children under age
eight who weigh less than 36 kilograms
(80 pounds), and are less than 145 cen-
timetres (4 feet, 9 inches) tall. Drivers
who do not correctly use booster seats or
child safety seats for their young passen-
gers face two demerit points and a $110
fme.

Huron -Bruce
In the August 20th, 2008, editions of the Clinton News Record
and the Huron Expositor, the Huron -Bruce Conservative
Candidate, when asked about the economy, stated, '7realty think
that things are pointing in the right direction." Despite the near
collapse of Ontario's manufacturing sector, despite the faltering rural and faun economy,
and despite the Harper Government's mismanagement of our multi -billion dollarbudgetary
surplus, Conservatives feels that everything is "...pointing in the right direction."
For the past fifteen years I have worked throughout the riding meeting with individual
residents, with seniors, with working families and with farmers. I can say that all is not well
and that the people of Huron -Bruce want and need action now. There is much to be done
and ignoring the challenges facing the area is not a real plan of action.
If you want someone who is experienced and prepared to work Lire al
with you to achieve results, on election day, vote Mcclinchey. nmtoaerCifiotalAgentkorCiegidoCluckey
