New display for Hockey Hall of Fame TORONTO - The Hockey Hall of Fame, in partnership with the Lakeshore Lions, recently announced a new fundraising campaign designed to support its expanded state-of-the-art "Hockey Resource Centre & Archives" [HRCA). The HRCA will open in 2009 as part of the new Lakeshore Lions 4 -pad arena complex presently under construction in Toronto's Lakeshore West district. Currently housed adjacent to the Hockey Hall of Fame's administrative offices at Brookfield Place, the HRCA is the most comprehensive archive and research facility in the world dedicated to collecting and pre- serving resource materials relat- ed to the history of hockey. In order to accommodate future growth and to provide future development opportuni- ties, the HRCA will be relocated to the new Lakeshore complex on Kipling Ave., just south of the CN railway tracks. "The HRCA represents the fab- ric of the Hockey Hall of Fame's exhibition, outreach, fundraising and charitable programs, so we are thrilled to be giving it a new home where it can continue to grow and thrive in support of our principal attraction at Brookfield Place," said Phil Pritchard, vice-president and curator, Hockey Hall of Fame. The new Lakeshore Lions Arena, which will include three NHL and one international sized ice pads, as well as the Toronto Maple Leafs permanent training and practice facility, is a prece- dent -setting partnership between the Leafs, the Hockey Hall of Fame, Hockey Canada, Lakeshore Lions and the City of Toronto. The facility will serve as a focal point for learning, developing and preserving the history of the sport. The $35 -million complex is on schedule to open in August/September 2009. The display will be erected permanently in the central walk- way of the new complex.
