CLASSIFIE"
SHDHS keeping busy
EXETER — Perhaps you've recently wondered
to yourself, "what's going on at SHDHS?"
Perhaps, if you are a student, you've wondered
it aloud, quite audibly in fact, to that one guy in
your math class who talks so loud that you can't
hear the very informative, well-
spoken guy on the announce-
ments. Or perhaps you've won-
dered aloud to your son or
daughter who goes to SHDHS
and they've replied by saying,
"My day was fine, no, nothing
interesting happened, however
that one guy in my math class is
really loud and I can't hear the
handsome, well-spoken, infor-
mative guy on the announce-
ments."
Well in any case, it has in fact
been busy since the beginning of
school. The Music department was busy right
away getting some tunes ready for the RCMP
Musical Ride, which I thought went very well.
Drama students had an information meeting
Sept. 16 regarding this year's school production,
"Zombie Prom," a musical comedy.
Sports teams, including volleyball, field hockey,
tennis, golf and cross country, have started prac-
tices and some have even played some games.
School groups like the Video and Photography
Club, the Fitness Club, Jazz choir, and even some
new groups like Ping-Pong Club are starting up,
making good use of the school's new half-hour
activity period at the end of each day.
Student council has been busy planning events
like the Grade 9 Welcome Week, which began
Sept. 15 and will consist of a number of events,
including the Grade 9 dance. Everyone is starting
to get back into the swing of things and I think
this is going to be an awesome year.
Jeff Perm's thoughts: "newer and better things
are happening every day."

When he was passing his fixed election date legislation. Stephen
1 laiper said 'Fixed election dates prevent governments from
calling snap elections for short-term political advantage." By
Ibreing an early election, he has clearly broken his promise to Canadians. Sadly this is not
without precedent. Mr. Harper promised to protect supply management at the WTO; to
eliminate the CAIS program; not to tax income trusts; and he vowed not to use the Senate
as a patronage rewards program. hi reality, Stephen Harper has ignored each ane of these
promises in favour of a partisan agenda that failed to do what was hest for Canadians.
Real leadership is living by your ward and doing what is right. Canadians expect and
deserve elected representatives with integrity; MPs who are prepared to act in the interests
of constituents, Perhaps Mr. f larger should be reminded of his record on accountability,
1 believe that I have the personal integrity, experience and commitment nee to be
an effective and honest voice for the people of Huron -Bruce. Enr j
