Soldiers enjoy well deserved rest
Recently some Canadian soldiers were
summer visitors at the home of Alice and
Mike Scott in Zurich (after having served
in Afghanistan this past year they needed
some R & R).
Those traveling on their motorcycles
were Master Warrant, Officer David Tofts
and his wife (home base support) Valerie
Tofts, Major Marco Roy and Captain
Veronique L'Heroux. Also Warrant
Officers Claude Leduc and Nick Cote.
David Tofts is a brother to Alice.
The group had planned this trip when
returning home from Afghanistan and
went as far as Quebec City to Milwaukee.
We are grateful to these soldiers for their
service to Canadians.
Recent visitors at the home of Carmel
and Jerome Sweeney were some of her
relatives form Windsor and Leamington.
Happy belated 70th birthday wishes go
out to Jim Bedard of Zurich on Sept. 11.
Co-workers at Northlander in Exeter
helped him to celebrate that day at the
plant, along with a "town crier" that was
arranged by his family! Jim still enjoys
going out golfing as well.
The Fair Board meeting will be held on
Thurs., Sept. 25 at the Town Hall in
Zurich at 8 p.m.
A bus load of people on holidays from
Germany going to various places were in
Zurich last Friday as 43 people enjoyed
brunch at Erb's Country Kitchen. It just
happened that Bill and Joyce Dowson
were in at the same time and he wel-
comed and spoke to them for awhile.
Blue Water Rest Home
The ground breaking ceremony held at
the Blue Water Rest Home on Sept. 12
had a really good turn out and great
weather for the outdoor event.
Refreshments and cake were served in
the lobby afterwards.

It sure was nice weather for the
R.C.M.P. Musical Ride that was held in
Exeter on Sept. 11. There was a really
big crowd, and several people from the
Zurich area were among the audience. It
was a great performance. Many students
went earlier in the day for the afternoon
performance

Healing occurs better on a fresh cut or
wound if you keep it moist and covered.
The idea of letting a wound "breathe"
can cause healing to delay. Apply some
petroleum jelly (i.e. Vaseline) and this
will keep the wound moist.
In 1900, the life expectancy in Canada was 47 years.
Today, Canadians can expect to live an average of
80.4 years. Women continue to outlive men. Girls born
in 2005 will live 4.7 years longer than boys. B.C.
residents have the highest life expectancy (81.2 years)
while Canada's three northern territories have the
lowest at 76.3 years.
Flossing is an important part of good dental hygiene.
The first dental floss was made commercially out of silk
back in 1882. We all know the value of flossing to our
general health but we don't really floss as much as we
should. Once daily before bedtime is an absolute
minimum. Do you floss daily?
Electroconvolsive Therapy (ECT) was first developed in
Italy in 1937. Often called "shock treatment" it is still
used successfully today to treat some types of mental
illness like serious depression.

I Want A Say In My Own Insurance Protection
Ontario's mutual insurance companies were started by early settlers who believed in working together
to protect themselves against the devastation of fire. Today that principle of neighbour
helping neighbour in times of crisis is still our driving force.
Now we're 45 mutual companies strong, owned and directed
by our policyholders. Still providing the best in protection.
