EXETER — An Exeter
couple have both
brought home first
place in the Canadian
Horseshoe Pitching
Championships.
Lia and Jack Snell,
who play with the
Khaki Club in
Wellesley, were each
awarded first place in
Calgary last month for
their class.
The championships
are played over three
days, with five games
per day.
Lia won in the Ladies'
"B" Class while Jack
won in the Men's 30'
"B" Class.
Lia's best game was
25 ringers out of 40
shoes, while Jack's
best game was 27
ringers out of 40.
Lia also won 13 out of
15 games, while Jack
won 12 and a half out
of 15 games.
Lia and Jack have
played horseshoes for
about 15 years.
In 1997 they played
in the World
Championships in
Kitchener, and
although the Snells say
they didn't play well,
the tournament did
spark an even bigger
interest in playing
