Crediton Cubs end 2008 season
BYRON - The Crediton
Cubs fastball team
ended its 2008 season
in Byron recently.
Crediton 1 versus
Oakridge 7
The Cub's bats were
quiet at the first playoff
game against the
London Oakridge team.
Both teams were very
close with a 3-1 ball
game until the sixth
inning when Oakridge
scored three runs to
take a larger lead.
Kelli Fulton led her
team at the plate with
two singles. Megan
Preszcator pounded in
the only run of the
game with her double
sending Carrie Dixon
home after Dixon's sin-
gle hit.
Adding singles were
Ange Gould, Marianne
Scott and Mary Glen.
Carrie Dixon was the
starting pitcher with
relief from Natalie
LaPorte and Kathy Glen
Crediton 15 versus
Byron Jr. 13
Two bad innings were
Crediton's demise its
second playoff match.
An amazing comeback
by the Cubs in the last
three innings of play,
found themselves with-
in reach to tie and win
the game but the team
ended up on the losing
side.
The team should be
commended for its
`never give up' attitude
as they rose to the
occasion to score five
runs and squeeze out of
a possible mercy oppor-
tunity.
Ange Gould led her
team at the plate with a
triple and two singles.
Gould led off the rally
in the fifth inning with
her triple. Marianne
Scott went three for
five at the plate with
three singles. Kathy
Glen, Carrie Dixon and
Natalie Laporte added
two hits apiece while
Kelli Fulton pounded
out a double in the sec-
ond inning.
Single hits came from
the bats of Megan
Preszcator and Nikki
Cyr.
Carrie Dixon was
Crediton's starting
pitcher with relief from
Marianne Scott.
Natalie LaPorte
jumped into the catch-
ing position with amaz-
ing ability which was a
real plus for the Cubs.
The team thanks
David Desjardine and
Dennis Gower for all
their help this past sea-
son. Also thanks to Jeff
and Ruth Slaght for all
their hard work with
Crediton Minor Ball.
To sub -coaches Tyler
McDonald and Jordan
Slaght, the Cubs will
save you a spot on the
bench next season.
The Crediton Cubs
have one more rematch
this season. The team is
playing the Crediton
Cuties(?) on Sat., Sept.
6 at 2 p.m. in Crediton
during Crediton's
Harvest Family Fun
Day.
Come out and cheer
the girls on and enjoy
some comedic action
from the team's compe-
tition.
