The next reunion of the descendants of Rainey
Armstrong will be July 17, 2010 (location to be
announced.) Reunion committee members who met
Aug. 9 at the home of Pat and Greg Armstrong are
VARNA N
encouraged to have all clan members mark their calen-
dars and spread the word to their families.
The family now has a website www.armstrongfami-
ly.ca, thanks to the work of Guy Armstrong of Ottawa.
The committee is excited about developing this new
communication tool, which has had more that 300 hits
to date. Genealogy data, website links, news
and announcements will continue to be added.
There is also a photo gallery, featuring dozens
of pictures of the 2007 reunion and more.
Following the meeting more family members arrived
to enjoy an afternoon of visiting and a potluck supper.
Guy (son of the late Kenneth and Lee Armstrong) gath-
ered many around the computer to look at more photos
he had posted on the website. Guy had scanned some of
his father's slides and needed help identifying the people
and events pictured. Most dated from 1956-1958, and
there were lots of stories and memories shared- plus a
few laughs at wallpaper patterns!! Visit the website and

Stuffed bears donated to the OPP
LAMBTON — Members from the
Southwest Regional Credit Union
attended the Forest OPP detach-
ment Aug. 21 to donate 300 bears
to the Lambton County OPP.
These gifts will be distributed to
each of the five detachments in
Grand Bend Petrolia, St. Clair
Township, Forest and Point
Edward.
The bears will be available for
officers to distribute to children
who are brought to the detach-
ment to provide statements about
difficult events they have experi-
enced or witnessed. Past experi-
ence tells us that teddy bears are
an effective way to give a child a
sense of purpose.
Detectives have used the bears
to help victims of domestic assault
feel safe.
This donation will complement
the province -wide "Comfort Bears
on Patrol" program.
The "Bears on Patrol" are kept
in each police vehicle to be given
out at scenes where children have
experienced a tragic situation.
Laugh -packed production at Huron Country Playhouse
By Deb Lord
TIMES -ADVOCATE STAFF
GRAND BEND – A musical farce at the Huron Country
Playhouse opened Aug. 13. "A Funny Thing Happened
On The Way To The Forum" takes comedy
back to its roots, combining situations from
time -tested, 2,000 -year-old comedies with the
infectious energy of classic vaudeville.
"Tragedy tomorrow, comedy tonight!"
Playhouse's powerful vocal talent production is
light, fast -paced, witty, irreverent and one of the
funniest musicals ever written, the perfect escape from
life's troubles. This laugh -packed production allows a
brilliant ensemble of comedic actors to shine.
The story centres around the inhabitants of three
adjacent houses, and chronicles a day in the life of
Pseudolus.
Pseudolus, played by Steve Ross is the laziest slave in
Rome and has but one wish, to purchase his freedom.
When his master and mistress leave for the day he finds
out that the young master has fallen in love with a vir-
gin in the house of Lycus, a slave dealer speciaii7ing in
beautiful women. Pseudolus concocts a deal in which he
will be freed if he can procure the girl for young Hero,
played by Kyle Blair. Of course, it can't be that simple as
everything begins to go wrong.
Hero's' father Doug Chamberlain is a joy to watch and
plays his hen-pecked husband role to a tee. Elena
Juatco, who plays Philia, has a truly melodic voice with
an amazing range.
Stage favourite Keith Savage entertains the crowd
as only he can. He effortlessly creates hysterical
laughter and with his comical and woe -is -me
facial expressions, he steals several parts in the
production. Just watching his `crazy' legs run
4( about the stage procures lots of laughter.
Delightful jokes combined with outstanding
musical talent and dance moves make the whole
evening a true delight.
"A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The
Forum" plays eight shows a week through Aug. 31.
Tickets can be ordered by calling the Huron Country
Playhouse Box Office at 519-238-6000 or toll free at 1-

Province announces cash
HURON — The province announced $1.1 billion in
municipal infrastructure funding Monday to improve
roads and bridges, to expand public transit and build
other municipal projects.
South Huron learned it will receive $847,897, while
Bluewater will receive $604,791. Huron -Bruce MPP
Carol Mitchell said her riding will receive $10,505,973
to help municipalities move ahead with their next
infrastructure priority.
Monday's announcement was triggered by the
release of the 2007-08 Public Accounts , which show a
$1.7 billion surplus for the past fiscal year.
"Through this investment, the McGuinty government
is taking another step forward in our relationship with
our municipal partners," Mitchell said. "The municipal-
ities in Huron -Bruce will now have the ability to
choose their next infrastructure project, and to move
that project forward."
"By investing in infrastructure in every Ontario com-
munity, we're creating jobs for families and making
our communities stronger," said Premier Dalton
McGuinty.
