(photolsubmitted) Tournament winners - The Exeter Mosquito Rep baseball team recently won the 'A' championship at a tournament in Hanover. It was the team's second tournament win of the season after winning their first in Ingersoll in June.The boys edged Center Wellington, Flesherton and Clinton on their way to the win playing sound baseball throughout the week- end. Congratulations to all players. Head coach Darwin Barker commented that the kids have worked hard all season and have been improving consistently.The team is playing off against Goderich to see who qualifies for the O.B.A.Tournament Labour Day weekend in Cottam. Crediton defeated first place team London Rebels by a score of 4-3, lost to Oakridge 7-3 and mercied Dorchester Int. by a score of 19-9. The local squad ended its sea- son in fourth place out of 14 teams Crediton 4 vs London Rebels 3 It was a very `sweet' win for the Crediton Cubs when they defeated the London Rebels 4-3. The Cubs have had troubles all season long trying to hit off of their pitcher but it was finally their night to shine. Crediton jumped on the scoreboard early scoring two runs in the first inning and adding one in the third and fourth inning. The Rebels replied with a run in the first, third and sev- enth. Kerri Fulton led her team at the plate with two dou- bles and one single. Ange Gould pound- ed out a triple in the first inning and added a single. Nikki Cyr went two for four at the plate with single hits from Kelli Fulton, Marianne Scott, Mary Glen and Carie Pertschy. Natalie LaPorte pitched strongly for Crediton with relief from Kathy Glen. Crediton 3 vs London Oakridge 7 It was a very close game for Crediton until the last two innings when Oakridge scored five runs to win 7-3. Crediton tied the score 2-2 in the third inning with two runs but was unable to take the lead. Kelli Fulton led her team at the plate with three singles. Kerri Fulton pounded out a triple and single while Ange Gould added a double and a single. Megan Preszcator went two for four at the plate with single hits from Mary Glen, Carie Pertschy and a long triple in the sixth inning from Marianne Scott to score a run. Carrie Dixon was the starter pitcher with relief from Kathy Glen. Crediton 19 vs Dorchester Int. 9 It was a slugfest for Crediton during its last home league game scor- ing 19 runs in five innings to mercy its opponent. The Cubs jumped on the scoreboard early scoring ten runs. The first four bat- ters, Megan Preszcator, Kathy Glen, Kelli and Kerri Fulton went four for four during the game, with Glen and Kerri Fulton pounding out two doubles and Kelli Fulton and Preszcator adding one double plus sin- gles. Natalie LaPorte, Mary Glen and Casey Cyr added two singles apiece. Carrie Dixon was the winning pitcher for Crediton.
