Busy times at
Playground
EXETER — Playground has been
extremely busy the past couple weeks!
From July 21 - 25 playground held a
first time ever Pirate -themed
week. The highlight was the life-
sized pirate ship that we worked
on together to build out of card-
board. The kids were then able to
sail away all week long. We also
made many "piratey" crafts
including eye patches, potato head
pirates and hooks and the children
participated in a three-legged
race.
Last week everything was big,
big and bigger as we rolled
through our `Large and In Charge' theme.
The youngsters played many of our
favourite games and activities and there
was always a funky twist.
We used jumbo sidewalk chalk, giant
dice and we played a game of life-sized
snakes and ladders.
On Thursday the kids went wild on our
exciting trip to African Lion Safari. Upon
arrival we munched down our tasty
bagged lunches just before catching our 9
kilometre tour bus through the game
reserves. The favourite was the crazy
monkeys! We also caught the elephant
round -up demonstration where the intelli-
gent elephants showed off their tricks as
well as the parrot show where one of the
birds sang us "0 Canada." We
cooled off in the splash pad area
and then headed home.
This week's theme is 'Sand and
Sun.' Be sure to check your 'days
to bring stuff' sheet to guarantee
you will be able to complete all
the planned crafts. With the beau-
tiful weather Playground has
been making numerous trips to
the pool. The staff would like to
thank everyone for always being
prepared for those extra trips to
cool off.
Our last big trip is Aug. 14 when we will
travel to London to bowl a round at
Fleetway, and then make our way to
Springbank Park for lunch as well as a fun
afternoon in the park. Be sure to stop by
the Ag Building if you would like to sign
your child(ren) up for this exciting day!

Rent clarification
There was a quote in the Times -Advocate recently stating that the Residential
Tenancy Act (RTA) limits landlords from raising the rent to three per cent above
guideline. The RTA is a confusing piece of legislation but if you work through it,
you will find that this is true for landlord capital projects or operating costs and
additional security.
This however does not apply to tax or utility increases. These, once approved, are
passed on 100 per cent to the tenants in one increase. Tenants need to be aware of
the true potential costs.
