The Times Advocate, 2008-07-30, Page 1414 Times–Advocate Children's Fest a success This past Saturday, Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Huron proudly held a very successful Children's Festival. We saw lots of families come out to join us in the fun. Kids left with bags full of goodies, their faces painted and most importantly, big smiles. Being a not-for-profit organization, money is always tight. We could not have nm this event without the financial assis- tance of our sponsors. Thank you to the local businesses who sponsored our activity stations, and allowed us to pur- chase craft supplies, games and prizes, and who sponsored our barbecue. Thank you to those who donated towards our door prizes, our yard sale and who helped make the day a fun -filled one in various other ways. A big thank you to all of those who helped make this day possible. Thank you goes out to Linda Finkbeiner, who approached the agency with the idea of holding a Children's Festival. What start- ed out as a small idea quickly blossomed into a large event requiring a whole parking lot! We would like to thank Linda for all her hard work and enthusiasm, and for the time she invested! >r into organizing this event, and her help .00 the day of. As well, thank you to Jim Finkbeiner, for all the help prepar- ing along the way, and being there from start to finish to lend a hand wherever needed. A big thank you to Mike Wilhelm and Paul Schwartzentruber for being there all day and for all of their help with setting up, assisting where needed, and cleaning up. Without these individuals, the day would not have happened. As well, the day would not have run without our Bigs, Littles, parents and community volun- teers who volunteered their time to run booths and be on 4 1.. 11141 Fun for the kids — Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Huron held its first Children's Festival on Saturday, includ- ing a number of children's games and activities. At left, James Miller of Dashwood checks out some toys, while top photo, Hannah Fletcher of Exeter, right, has her face painted at the hands of Patricia Langendyk while friends Lana and Drake Hippern look on.
