South Huron Trail Run Aug. 10 Summer reading
EXETER — Thousands of people exer-
cise on the South Huron Trail at Exeter
each year and on Aug. 10, runners will
have a chance to race in the RBC South
Huron Trail Run.
The eight -kilometre run is part of the
Runners' Choice RunPiker series of eight
races throughout southwestern Ontario.
About 200 runners from
across southern Ontario
came to Exeter last year
for this unique run.
Most races in the series
are on city streets but this
race follows the Ausable River
through the MacNaughton-Morrison Trail
and Morrison Dam Conservation Area.
The runners love the shaded, scenic
course, according to long-time race orga-
nizer and RunPiker participant Arn Spivey
of Exeter.
Runners from Exeter, Dashwood, St.
Marys and Zurich have already registered.
Not everyone has their sights set on the
Olympics. For many, this is a chance to
run with family and friends. Regardless,
the run has official timers and gives
everyone a chance to see how quickly they
can complete an eight -kilometre race.
As was the case in the first four years of
the event, the race raises funds for the
new trail, but this year runners can also
support Big Brothers Big Sisters of South
Huron (BBBSSH). Donations are eligible
for tax receipts and the entry fee is
waived if runners raise $50 in pledges.
"This event blends well with the goals of
our agency by showcasing some great
local runners who can inspire children,"
said BBBSSH president Kate Monk. "And
we're always looking for ways
to raise money for our pro-
grams."
This is the first year a
major sponsor has been
sought and the Exeter
branch of RBC has come on
board, said Monk. Other area businesses
are contributing cash and merchandise
for the event.
Both the 9 a.m. two -kilometre fun run
for children and the 9:30 a.m. eight -kilo-
metre race start at the South Huron
Recreation Complex Ag Building.
Spectators are welcome to line the route
to cheer on the athletes. The races add
even more excitement to the Exeter Rodeo
weekend.
Runners can register online at www.run-
nerschoice.on.ca or entry forms are avail-
able at the Ausable Bayfield Conservation
Authority office or website
(www. abca. on. ca) or BBBSSH office at
Community Living in Dashwood.

also on Christ laughing. The
choir sang a children's song I
Prayed in the Tub and every-
one laughed.
Following the service Colin

great pot luck luncheon was
enjoyed by all along with
good fellowship.

children and
one for adults.
