4-H Swine Club
By Shannon Ryan
WINTHROP - On Wed.,
June 18, we had our
third swine 4-H meeting
at the Winthrop church.
Tonight we had a guest
speaker, Tom Fritz. He
is the owner of Fritz
Concrete Inc. locat-
ed in Chatsworth.
He began the
evening by talking
about the begin-
ning of his career. Tom
started out farming pigs
farrow to finish and
shortly after started his
company. They have
been in business 36 years
now.
The company makes
pre -cast concrete which
is used in commercial
and farm buildings. He
then showed us some
blue prints of different
barns they have
built. He then left us
with some gifts.
Jesse thanked Mr.
Fritz for speaking
to our club.
The next meeting
will be at Leanne Ryans
house. Be prepared to do
some judging. See you
then!
POLICE BRIEF
Vehicle impounded
BLUEWATER - On July 4 a Huron OPP officer was
on general patrol on Parr Line in Bluewater when the
officer observed a vehicle on MacDonald Road. Based
on the actions of the driver at the intersection with
Parr Line, a traffic stop was initiated. Upon approach-
ing the driver of the motor vehicle, the officer
observed the driver to be one who is prohibited from
driving. After speaking with the driver, it was also
determined that the driver was impaired by alcohol.
The male was arrested for Driving while prohibited
and impaired driving. He was taken to the Exeter
OPP Detachment where he met with a qualified
breathalyzer technician and provided two samples of
his breath. The results of the tests confirm the driver
had over two times the legal limit of alcohol in his
blood at the time of driving. A 35 -year-old South
Huron man was held in custody, facing one count of
driving disqualified, one count of impaired driving,
one count of driving with over 80 milligrams of alco-
hol and two counts of failing to comply with under-
taking. The vehicle he was operating was impounded
for 45 days.
