Update from South Huron mayor
SOUTH HURON — At the last
council meeting, a delegation
came to council with questions
regarding the Crediton/Centralia
sewer project and the proposed
water rate increases.
Although they stated they repre-
sented themselves and no others,
they stated that people in their
area were asking a lot of questions
and implied that the people were
asking this delegation the ques-
tions.
They stated that as they asked
each of the questions, that they
heard that particular question
from a lot of people.
The list of comments and ques-
tions they presented, probably
raised more questions in my mind,
with regard as to why many of
these questions were being asked
and the process of how they were
being asked.
Some of the questions asked,
have been asked, on more than
one occasion in the council cham-
ber by the same person over the
last two years and each time the
questions that have been asked,
Ken Oke
they have been
answered.
Some ques-
tions are about
another level of
government that
we cannot
answer,
because they
wouldn't even
give us the
answer.
Some ques-
tions were about other municipal
areas that I would like to know
about too, but even if I heard the
story, it would not be in my best
interest to pass on something that
I wouldn't be able to verify that is
100 per cent correct.
Some questions were debating
the wording of the answers of
questions given at a previous time.
Ratepayers are entitled to
receive answers to any questions,
queries, or concerns that they may
have about their municipality.
I request that you try to obtain
the answers from someone who
has the responsibility to give you a
correct answer.
Staff of the municipality or your
local ward representative should
be your first contact.
If you are uncomfortable dealing
with our municipal staff or your
ward representative, please call
me, the mayor, or the deputy
mayor.
If you are going to be upset with
council or staff, I would like to
know if it was caused by some-
thing that we as a municipality
had our hands tied and couldn't
do anything about , was it some-
thing we could have done a little
differently, or was it caused by a
miscommunication that should
never have happened.
The problem of miscommunica-
tion is preventable and avoidable
if information is received first
hand and not by word of mouth
through several people.
Council, staff and ratepayers
have to put their best efforts for-
ward as community builders to
make this municipality the great
place that it should be.

ADHD or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity
Disorder, affects between 3% and 7% of
school -aged children. It seems to affect
more boys than girls.
There are two types of fibre: insoluble and
soluble. The insoluble type (found in bran cereals and
prunes) is great for the bowels and keeps you "regular". The
soluble type (in fruits and oats) helps keep blood sugar from
rising too quickly and has a reducing effect on LDL, the so-
called "bad cholesterol".
If you are so sensitive to bee stings that they cause hives or
other symptoms like shortness of breath, you are advised to
carry an Epi -Pen with you. These special automatic injectors
will give you a dose of epinephrine which will counteract the
allergic effect of the bee venom.
Looking fora non -drug method to control nausea caused
by morning sickness in pregnancy? Try putting a little
pressure on the inside of the arm lust above the wrist bone.
This pressure point, called P-6, by specialists in acupressure,
has also been successful in reducing the symptoms of motion
sickness. There are special wrist bands available for the
same purpose.
