Peter Frielink showed some strong offensive skills to score the goals. Strong goal keeping kept Red in the game. But Blue was persistent. Hannah Tait ran miles and made some key plays. Michelle Russell was on fire, run- ning and kicking the ball great distances. Emma Dietrich dribbled the ball deep in the Red end putting pressure on their defense. Jillian Regier had fire in her eyes, bound and determined to get the ball. Jakob Esch was a wall on defense. Nobody was get- ting past him. Dylan Kints dialed it up a notch and halted some offensive rushes. Lexie Szabo demonstrat- ed heads up soccer mak- ing key defensive passes. Colin Theil was solid in net recording the shut out. U9 Blue Blue 1 versus Red 5 Goal: Jakob. Goalies: Wes and Megan. Comments: Good team work everyone, you all played hard. Exeter Green 9 versus 0 Grandbend Orange Goalies: Charlie and Jordan Scorers: Scott (2), Nicole (2), Brian (3), Martina and Charlie Comments: We had everything tonight. Great defending by Jordan, James and Robyn, the midfield of Scott, Martina, Carter and Larry played excellent in defence and forward, Brian, Nicole and Charlie were excellent strikers. Keep up the great work in the tournament. U11 July 7 South Huron 6 versus St. Marys 0 Goals: Nathan Boersma, Curtis Henderson, William Regier, Ben Ryan, Zach Smith, Kevin Vanderlaan A great team win with lots of passing to stretch the field and beat the other team. Good job guys. Great goaltending from Harrison Winters for the shutout. Best all round team game of the year without a doubt. July 10 South Huron Lightning 5 versus St. Marys 4 Great game played by both teams. This game had everything and if ever a game was played in the true spirit of House League, this was it. Two evenly matched teams who played right to the final whistle. Thanks to the ref for ensuring a much needed water break mid way through each half as substitutions were at a premium. Well done to the girls of South Huron Lightning especially Nicole, Sadie and Sarah in defense. Goals: Jamiee Clark, Sadie Smith, Mikayla Darling, Maaike Vanwindergen(2) July 26 Lambeth 1 versus South Huron Lightning 2. Comments: Very close game played on a very hot night where Lambeth had no substitutions and the Lightning had only one. Mikayla in goal stopped the shots in the first half with Stacey doing an amazing job in the last 10 minutes to hold of Lambeth who were throw- ing everything except the kitchen sink at her to pre- serve the win. All the girls gave it their all but a special mention to Danielle and Maaike in mid field who seemed to cover every blade of grass. The girls in the end got their reward for their great efforts not only in this game but in the last few where the result has not gone their way. Way to go girls. Goals: Maaike Vanwindergen and Mikayla Darling with her first ever goal after so many near misses. The roar from the side lines would have made the old Hampden Park faithful proud. U13 Grand Bend 3 versus South Huron 6 Comments: A game which saw the best of our forward players Ryan Smillie, Jake, Sean, Mark Anthony, Kevin, with goals from Kurtis (3), Taylor (2) and Jason Metzger. Our midfield made good use of the time and space they created. Well done and keep it up.
