Zurich Medical Centre meeting at the complex July15

ZURICH CORRESPONDENT
ZURICH - The last Fair Board meeting was held
in June at the town hall with a good attendance.
President Hilda Lansbergen chaired the meet-
ing along with secretary/treasurer Margaret
Deichert who read the minutes of the last meet-
ing.
Elimination draw tickets are still available for
$10 at Erb's, Thiel's Mercantile or the Variety
Store. Purchase a ticket and you could win up to
$100 at the fair dance on Fri., July 25 at 8 p.m.
Anyone wanting a prize list booklet
for the fair can call Margaret for one.
Thanks goes out to Heidi Klopp who
designed the cover this year with the
theme being "Reach for the Stars." The Zurich
Fair is from Fri., July 25 to Sun., July 27.
CWL
St. Boniface CWL held their last meeting for the
summer on June 17 with 20 members, one guest
speaker and Fr. Keller attending. President Joan
Regier welcomed everyone and a spiritual read-
ing was given by Martha Risi with reports given
by Julie Becker, Cecilia Smith, Patty Hunt, Bella
Soudant, Janet Soudant and Deb Pennings.
Dara Hartman from Mt. Carmel Parish C.W.L.
invited our league to go on a bus trip to the
shrine in Merlin on July 23. Dara is now our
new regional rep. for Huron -Perth deanery.
Rosaries were given to all the Grade 8 gradu-
ates on June 24 by the C.W.L. and K of C.
Our league will have a booth at the Bean
Festival on Sat., Aug. 23 by the bakeshop.
Lori Laporte will be on holidays from the
church office from June 30 to July 4.
St. Boniface youth group and leaders went on a
bus trip to East Park in London on July 3.
The next CWL meeting will be on Tues., Sept.
16.

There will be a Blood Donor Clinic at the com-
plex in Zurich on Sat., July 12 from 10 a.m. to 1
p.m. No appointment is necessary.
Helen McLean and daughter Betty -Jean Talbot
of RR 1 Dashwood recently spent 10 days in
Charletown, P.E.I. visiting with some in-laws.
A buck and doe was held for Pam Meidinger
and Shane Timmermans on July 4 at the Zurich
Complex with several friends and relatives
attending. Pam is the daughter of Wayne
Meidinger and Denise. The couple are planning
to be married in October.
St. Peter's 1 35th anniversary
St. Peter's Catholic Church (St. Joseph) was re-
opened last Sunday as all the renovations were
completed and weekend masses are back at reg-
ular times again (Saturdays at 5 p.m. and
Sundays at 10:30 a.m.). Everything looks so
beautiful with new carpets, freshly painted walls,
and the statues have been redone just so nice.
Everything is ready for their big 135th anniver-
sary celebration that will be held on Sat., July 12
and Sun., July 13.
Congratulations to Bill and Nancy Becker of
Dashwood who celebrated their 50th wedding
anniversary at the Ironwood Golf Club near

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
Five (5) Public Members for the South Huron
Economic Development Advisory Committee
The South Huron Economic Development Advisory Committee (EDAC) is
being created to provide Council and staff both guidance and recom-
mendations on matters relating to the attraction, expansion and reten-
tion of business in South Huron. The Committee will actively assist the
Council by fostering and promoting a positive community image, an
enhanced quality of life and prosperity, viable urban and rural develop-
ment and a healthy business environment for existing businesses.
Applications are being accepted for five (5) community representatives
from the general public, representing all areas of the Municipality to rep-
resent five key economic sectors, namely, education, tourism, agriculture,
manufacturing and retail merchants.
A coy of the EDAC Terms of Reference is available at the Municipal Office
or the municipal website.
Applications will be accepted in writing until noon, Monday, July
21st, 2008. Applicants should include their reasons for applying, that
they have read and understand the terms of reference for the Committee
and are prepared to commit to regular attendance and participation at
meetings between the Fall of 2008 and the end of 2010.

Exeter on Sat., June 28 which was also an
engagement party for their granddaughter
Candace Becker and Mark Soudant. The party
was in the form of a golf tournament with friends
and relatives attending. Candace is the daughter
of Joe and Nancy Becker of Dashwood and Mark
is the son of Ted and Janet Soudant, Zurich. The
couple are getting married in August.
The Zurich Library is having a teen games
night once a month for kids ages 12 - 18 years
old. The first one was held on Tues., July 8 from
6 - 8 p.m. Call the library for more info at 236-
4965 during their hours.
Skating registration
Bluewater-Zurich Skating Club
will be holding registration for this
fall and winter's skating programs on Sat., July
26. Visit us any time after the Zurich Fair
parade until 3 p.m. at the Bluewater-Zurich
Arena. Be sure to check out our new programs

Family members and friends are invited to the
closing program for our Community Vacation
Bible School this Friday night (July 11) at the
Zurich Mennonite Church starting at 7 p.m.
Don't forget to keep saving your empty pop
cans for St. Boniface Church building fund. They
can be dropped off at any time by the door at the
home of Doug DeBus, Zurich, John Jacobs,
Hensall or Mike Miller of St. Joseph.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery goes out to
Marjorie Meidinger who is now home from the
hospital. Also our prayers and best wishes go to
Maria Gelinas in Victoria Hospital.
Mike and Vicki Ducharme spent a week at
Family Paradise Campgrounds in a cabin near
Sarnia recently.
A family reunion was held for the decedents of
the late Nora Corriveau on Sat., June 28 at the
pavilion in Dashwood with relatives coming from
various places.
Happy retirement!
At the end of the school term on June 26 it was
also the last day for Glen Thiel to drive the
school bus. After 35 years on the job he has
retired! He will certainly be missed by all of the
parents and children.
A surprise 25th birthday party was held for
Cindy Crete on June 28 at the home of her mom
Kim and Mike Clarke in Zurich with family mem-
bers attending to help her celebrate (the actual
birthdate is July 16).
Welcome to town Lynn Conliffe from Thunder
Bay who has recently moved to the Stone
Meadow Condos subdivision.
Lynn is happy to be closer to her mother Yogi
Garnhum and a sister Cindy Ducharme in Zurich.
Kimberly Garcia and daughter Viviana of
Oshawa were recent visitors for a week with her
parents Bob and Heather Redick; who are also
anxious to be grandparents again in September.

OF A STORAGE BUILDING WITH AN ATTACHED
LEAN TO REVISED CLOSING DATE

The Municipality of South Huron is requesting proposals
from qualified contractors for the design and construc-
tion of an attached enclosed 24' x 40' storage building
with an attached 24' x 16' lean to.
The Municipality requires that the building to be engi-
neered and constructed before the end of December
2008 (prior to the expiry of 2008 budget)
Packages including specifications may be picked up at
the Olde Town Hall Municipal Office at 322 Main Street
South, Exeter.

There will be a meeting at the Bluewater
Complex to hear about the progress of the
fundraising campaign and new building etc. for
our medical centre on Tues., July 15 at 8 p.m.
Come out and support those on the board of this
committee.
A birthday celebration was held for Audrey
Smith, Zurich and her sister Reta from Kitchener
on Sat., July 5. Also spending the weekend were
two other sisters Wanda from Kitchener and
Sister Margaret Dodge (a nun) from Sault Ste.
Marie. Along with Audrey's daughter Karen
Dalton of Richmond Hill. A good time was had by
all.
Annette Stephan and four children from Tokyo,
Japan are spending their summer holidays again
in the area near Stratford. They will be visiting
with her parents Mary and Karl Regier Sr. and
in-laws Sandy and Jack Stephan all of Zurich;
along with family members. Husband Mark will
join them later.
Outdoor church service
On Sun., July 13 the Zurich Mennonite Church
worship service and gathering will be held out-
doors at the Zurich park/pavilion at 10:30 a.m.
(weather permitting) followed by their annual
bring and share picnic lunch afterwards.

PRELIMINARY DESIGN
Public Information Centre
The proposed expansion and upgrade of the Grand Bend STF will service
portions of the Municipalities of Lambton Shores, South Huron and
Bluewater over the next 20 years. Dillon Consulting Limited has recom-
mended that an expansion and upgrade of the STF to a mechanical
sewage treatment plant be selected as the preferred design for meeting
the Study Area's immediate and future sewage treatment needs.
