POLICE BRIEFS
Purse stolen from vehicle
LAMBTON SHORES — Lambton OPP is investigating a theft from a vehi-
cle June 12 between 1:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. It is alleged that while the
owners were at the beach, a purse containing cash and identification was
taken from their parked vehicle. Lambton OPP reminds people to lock their
valuables out of sight. Be aware of your surroundings and report suspi-
cious vehicles or people that appear to be loitering in parking areas.
Driver charged after crashing
LAMBTON SHORES — A 20 -year-old Lakeshore man faces a charge of
careless driving after crashing his 2008 Dodge Calibre into a tree in Pinery
Provincial Park. Five other occupants, all from the Windsor area were also
in the vehicle. All sustained minor injuries but declined additional medical
treatment. It is alleged that the driver was travelling on a public roadway,
approaching the Dunes camping area in the Provincial Park. The driver
failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway and slammed head on into a
tree. One passenger inside the vehicle did not have the benefit of a seatbelt
and was actually positioned in the hatch of the vehicle at the time of the
collision. The investigation is continuing.
Recovered stolen vehicle
LUCAN BIDDULPH — A stolen black 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix was found
on Revere Drive in Lucan Biddulph May 31. The vehicle, stolen from
London, was set on fire.
Health Unit starting phone survey for 'in motion'
HURON — Hundreds of Huron and Perth County residents
can expect an important phone call in the next two months
and it won't be from a telemarketer.
The Huron County Health Unit and Perth District Health
Units will be contacting more than 700 households in the
two counties and asking residents to complete a short
physical activity survey.
The survey is part of a new project called in motion.'
The project is about getting Huron and Perth County resi-
dents more physically active.
Co -chairperson of 'in motion' Alycia Collins says a survey
like this has never been done locally.
"The information we have on health and physical activity
in Huron County is limited. We know that only half of
Huron County residents are active enough for health bene-
fits. We need to have a better understanding of how active
people are so we can meet people's needs."
Collins says the information being collected will help in
planning more physical activity programs and services for
Huron County residents.
"By participating in this survey, you'll help create new
programs your family will be able to use."
Households will be called between 5 and 9 p.m., and res-
idents will be asked to participate in a telephone survey.
The survey will take about 20 minutes.
If you have questions about the `in
motion' initiative or the physical activity
survey, contact Collins at the Huron
County Health Unit at 482-3416 or toll-
free at 1-877-837-6143.
