Community Vacation Bible School begins July 7

Jeffrey who were married on
June 21 at St. Peter's
Lutheran Church by Pastor
Amy Krueger. The ceremo-
ny was followed by dinner
and reception at the
Bluewater Complex with
several relatives and friends
attending.
The bride is the daughter
of Ken and Donna Thiel and
the groom is the son of John
and Lesley Jeffrey all of the
Zurich area. The couple are
living in Zurich on John St.
N.
Community VBS
The Zurich Community
Vacation Bible School will be
held at the Mennonite
Church from July 7 to 11
each morning from 8:45
a.m. until noon.
Children from JK to grade
10 are welcome to register.

A nice staff barbecue sup-
per and end of the year get-
together for those at St.
Boniface School was held at
the home of Peter Becker
last Thursday.
Congratulations to Rick
and Michelle Smith of Zurich
on the arrival of their twin
girls Allison and Amy who
were born on June 21.
Congratulations go out to
Albert (Abby) and Wilma Erb
on the occasion of their 60th
wedding anniversary on
June 26. An open house was
held in their honour at the
Lutheran Church Hall last
Sunday.
Also Congratulations to
Clem and Theresa Regier of
the Bluewater Rest Home on
the occasion of their 60th
anniversary on June 26.
Church renovations
complete
The renovations are now
finished at St. Peter's
Catholic Church at St.
Joseph and they are ready
for their big 135th anniver-
sary celebration coming up
on Sat., July 12 and Sun.,
July 13.
Local entertainment begins
at 7 p.m. on July 12. An
outdoor mass will be held on
Sun., July 13 at 10:30 a.m.
followed by lunch and a
social in the afternoon.
Graduations
The grade 8 graduation of
St. Boniface students was
held on June 24 with a 5:30
p.m. mass by Fr. Keller, fol-
lowed by the presentation of
awards and diplomas.
Following the ceremony
the students and their par-
ents enjoyed supper in the
school gym that was deco-
rated for the occasion.
The Zurich Public School
held their grade 8 gradua-
tion on June 23 with their
parents and families meeting
for dinner at the complex.
The Bean Sprouts Nursery
School held their graduation
ceremony on June 24 at St.
Peter's Lutheran Church hall
with a clown, balloons and
cake.
Family members from
Western Canada and the
United States were among
those relatives and friends
who helped cel-
ebrate Clare
O'Rourke's 90th
birthday at the
Lutheran Church hall on
June 28.
Clare is a resident of the
Blue Water Rest Home in
Zurich.
Jean Geoffrey is now a res-
ident in the apartments
located at the rest home.
Elaine and Don Beauchamp
are happy to announce the
arrival of their grand daugh-
ter Reese Theresa born on
June 16 to proud parents
Rachelle and Sam Hill in
Strathroy.
Congratulations to bride
and groom Alysha Crawford
and Brandon Overholt who
were married on June 28 at
St. Peter's Church in
Goderich, with dinner and
reception at Saltford Valley.
Brandon is the son of Mike
and Charlene Overholt of
Zurich. The couple will live
in Hensall.

Rau and Elsa Fraser who
were married on June 28
with dinner and reception at
Windermere Manor in
London.
The groom is the son of
Mike and Beatie Rau of
Dashwood. The couple will
live in London.
Wendy Nye of California
spent a few days in the area
last week visiting with
friends and rela-
tives and her
brother Ron
Oesch of RR 2
Zurich. She also attended
the 100th Anniversary
Celebration of the Zurich
Mennonite Church.
Happy 75th birthday wish-
es go out to Leo Hoffman on
June 20.
All the Scouting groups and
their families recently
enjoyed a spaghetti dinner
at the Lutheran Church hall
for their end of year gather-
ing and "fly -up" ceremony.
Recently an 89th birthday
party was held for John
Groot with about 50 people
attending at the cottage of
his daughter Mariann and
husband Glen Warwick at St.
Joseph.
Quilting guild
Fourteen members of the
quilting guild recently spent
the day going to New
Hamburg and St. Jacobs vis-
iting some fabric shops and

eating out.
A 45th anniversary party
was held in honour of Art
and Pauline Miller of Zurich
on June 15 at the home of
their son Peter in Grand
Bend.
Several relatives of the late
Clem Bedard from our area
travelled to Windsor to the
funeral home last
Wednesday.
Our annual WWW (Wild
Women's Weekend) for
mothers and daughters was
held on June 21 and two in
London with 18 in our group
this year. We travelled on a
short bus to various places
such as "Sparta" to the can-
dle place, and the Winter
Wheat Store and garden.
Supper was enjoyed at the
Kettle Creek Inn at Port
Stanley along with attending
a play at the Festival
Theatre.
Friends Dianne Klopp and
Francine Vanesse spent a
week in Bermuda recently.
Carmel Sweeney along with
daughters Heather, Carrie,
Beth and grand daughter
Heidi spent Sun., June 22 in
Windsor and went to the
funeral home for my Aunt
Bernadette Rochleau who
died on June 19.
Reta Dodge of Kitchener is
visiting with her sister
Audrey Smith for a couple
weeks.
