Individuals given awards in celebration of seniors
HENSALL β A very eventful seniors'
month has drawn to a close at
Queensway with residents and staff
pleased to have raised money for two
worthwhile causes. The annual
Strawberry Social June 18 drew a good
crowd with delicious fresh strawberries,
cake and whipped topping along with
terrific musical entertainment provided
by "Audibly Awesome". Funds raised at
our social were donated to our local
VON Volunteer Palliative Care Program.
Funds raised for Heart and
Stroke
Tues., June 24 Queensway's team
"Care Extraordinaire" rode the Big Bike
to victory at the Clinton Racetrack, rais-
ing over $2,300 for Heart and Stroke.
Queensway's team won for most money
raised, team spirit and fastest time. Go
Queensway!
Residents are looking forward to bar-
becue suppers starting in July.
Throughout the months of July and
August nursing home residents and
retirement residents will dine outdoors
in the courtyard to enjoy BBQ meals on
alternate Thursdays.
Residents gathered in the retirement
home lounge on a recent Saturday
afternoon to watch new couple Amanda
(nee Ducharme) and Richard Salz have
their wedding pictures taken by the
fireplace. Resident Fred Johnston
played piano for the occasion.
Staff member Ellen Green accompa-
nied several residents to the Zurich
Dining for Seniors program to visit with
their friends in the community over
lunch.
The beautiful weather although alter-
nating with sporadic rain has allowed a
number of programs to be held out-
doors on the deck, among them exercis-
es, ice-cream parlours and one to one
visiting.
Seniors' month celebrated
Administrator Kathy Holdsworth and
retirement home director Julie
Gimminck presented awards to each
individual in the retirement home for a
special trait unique to that person in
celebration of seniors' month.
Everyone had a great time discussing
the awards over the ice-cream sundaes
that followed.

The winner of the draw for a

Weber says and adds that the
gallery features the work of
artists from Grand Bend,
Exeter, Hensall, Ailsa Craig and
London.
The gallery will also be teach-
