GRAND BEND — "It's
scary, but it's good," says
Jen Gaukroger, the owner
of her first business, Grand
Bend's newest English
inspired pub, Paddington's.
"I've wanted to do this
for years. It's different,
and I wanted to do some-
thing different," adds
Gaukroger.
Found on Ontario Street,
Paddington's Eatery, Ale
House and Wine Bar was
named after Gaukroger's
first stuffed bear,
Paddington.
Paddington's is a cozy
restaurant with a court-
yard patio.
Many of the ideas
within the pub, fea-
turing a brick wall
inside, were generat-
ed from a visit
Gaukroger and her
six-year-old daughter
Madison took to
England in
September. While
there, the pair
searched the country-
side for pubs, gaining
a lot of insight and
ideas.
Gaukroger's family
comes from Britain,
where her aunt Claire
is a chef in London,
England.

a European inspired menu,
along with a kids menu
too. Gaukroger says the
olde chedder and stilton
cheese with a branston
pickle and sausage rolls
are "really popular." But
Paddington's also offers a
more laid back approach
of New York style wings
and chips, which have also
been a hit.
Paddington's has a fully
stocked wine bar and over
50 different kinds of beer
to choose from.
Gaukroger says everyone
"has been really support-
ive" of her business.
Paddington's has teamed
up with the Huron
Country Playhouse, giving
customers the chance to
win free tickets to
Playhouse performances.
Paddington's, which is
newly air conditioned, is
open from Tuesday until
Sunday, and is holding its
official grand opening July
5. Hourly door prizes will
be given out.
