"Private" 911 signs confusing LAMBTON — Lambton OPP were notified of a private enterprise that has residents confused, thinking the new 911 signs are replacing the existing ones. A private com- pany known as Address America, through an indepen- dent contractor has delivered a "Public Notice" to some County residents advising them of a 911 sign that they are asked to buy. The content of the notice indicates a contactor will be working in their neighborhood installing reflective address number signs and want to include every resident on the street. The cost of each sign is $45 plus taxes. The sign indicates that the bril- liant reflective qualities of the sign make them essential for emergency services to find an address, especially at night. The company is legitimate, but what they are sell- ing does not replace the green and white reflective 911 sign required and issued by the County. That sign must remain installed in front of every County address.
