It's not a good idea to stop any of your chronic
medications without consulting your doctor. The way
some medications work in the body can be affected
by other medications you take. Stopping one
medication suddenly could increase the effect of the
other. Get advice first.
There are so many stories about the good and bad effects of coffee.
Now there is a suspicion that regular caffeine -containing coffee
consumption can reduce the risk of Parkinson's Disease. What coffee and
caffeine aren't good for are migraine headaches, trying to get pregnant
and getting a good night's sleep.
Okinawa is a small island off the coast of Japan which boasts the
highest number of people over 100 years of age. They have 40
centenarians per 100,000 people compared to 10 per 100,000 in the
U.S. (and probably Canada). The reason? A low -calorie diet of fish,
vegetables, whole grains, legumes, fruit and soy foods. High levels of
nutrients and low calorie consumption. A recipe for long life.
Antidepressants work by maintaining the circulation of serotonin and
norepinephrine in the body, two chemicals that help govern our
emotions, moods and other body processes. Most antidepressants on the
market help preserve only serotonin but newer ones are coming that
work on both chemicals.
