Support Camp Menesetung's open house and dinner June 29

THAMES ROAD - Church service: The
mission and service committee were in
charge of the church service on Sunday
morning.
Karen Etherington lit the Christ candle
and announced the first hymn Make a
Joyful Noise, which everyone sang.
Karen spoke words of welcome and
everyone passed the
Peace.
The call to worship
(some verses from Psalm 66) was led
responsively by Karen Etherington. Ruth
Anne Osgood led a time of confession
responsively.
Ruth Anne spoke words of assurance.
Everyone sang the hymn Shout For God.
The choir sang Serve Him, Praise Him
accompanied by the pianist Jean
Hodgert.
Judith Parker read the Hebrew
Scripture Deuteronomy 26:1-11 and led
in the Responsive Psalm 100.
Melonie Miller read the Epistle Lesson
Philippians 4.4-9 and the Gospel Lesson
Luke 19:37-40.
Sharon Lynn gave a council report.
Karen Etherington introduced Rick and
Jennifer Branderhorst who both having
been to Haiti spoke on "Orphans In Haiti"
and "Children of The Promise" which
was very interesting. They were thanked
by Ruth Anne and were presented with a
gift.
Beatrice Dawson led in the Affirmation
of Our Faith "A New Creed." Murray and
Beatrice Dawson received the offering
and everyone sang the Doxology. Karen
led a unison prayer of thanks for gifts
given in love. Beatrice gave the prayers
of the people.
Marianne Veldman led in As We Go
responsively. Everyone sang the choral
benediction. Following the service deli-
cious squares, cookies and cold bever-
ages were enjoyed downstairs.

Spring tree planting totals
EXETER — Staff at the Ausable
Bayfield Conservation Authority
(ABCA) planted trees at 48 sepa-
rate planting sites for 45 landown-
ers throughout the spring, with 170
watershed landowners participat-
ing in the pick-up program this
year.
At the monthly ABCA meeting
June 19, ABCA forestry and stew-
ardship specialist Ian Jean present-
ed the spring planting totals.
The projects mainly consisted of
farm windbreaks and watercourse
buffers."
In South Huron/Perth South, four
projects were completed. These
included three windbreaks/shelter-
belts and one water buffer. In
Lucan Biddulph seven projects
were completed, including two
windbreaks/shelterbelts, four
water buffers and one forest
expansion/infill-
ing project.

jects, including
four wind-
breaks/shelter-
belts, three
water buffers,
one steep slope
and two forest
expansion/infill-
ing projects and
Lambton
Shores/Warwick
completed three
projects, two
windbreaks/shel-
terbelt projects

Projects were also completed in
Central Huron, Huron East, West
Perth, North Middlesex and
Adelaide Metcalfe/Middlesex
Centre.
One project was completed in
West Perth, while 12 were com-
pleted in North Middlesex.
The planting season began April
7. On April 15 the large stock and
seedling planting started. All sites
were planted by May 16, due to
"good drying weather."
Totals for this year are similar to
previous years. In 2008, the ABCA
planted 56,000 trees. Landowner
pick-up was 20,700, totalling
76,700 trees.
In 2007, the ABCA planted
61,200 trees, while landowner
pick-up was 24,900, totaling
86,100.

The annual Turnbull Cousins picnic

On Friday afternoon and evening Mrs.
