Ready for summer
Fun summer — Leading local kids through a series of events this summer
at South Huron Playground will be from left, leaders Annick Maes, Jessica

June 25 is Playground registration at the Ag Building from I to 2 p.m. and
6:30 to 7:30 p.m.The playground staff are hosting two barbeque fundraisers
to help offset the costs of this year's trips.The first is June 27 atTown hall
from I I a.m. to 2 p.m.The second is June 28 at Belongers, also from 1 1 a.m
to 2 p.m. Playground is hosting the annual Canada Day Child Fair at the Rec
Centre on the ice surface that runs from 1 1 a.m. to 2 p.m. and includes
games, activities, prizes and fun for kids.This year's trips include African Lion
Safari, Bingeman's and bowling/Springbank Park, as well as many in -town
adventures.The staff have also scheduled swimming days everyWednesday
and Thursday afternoon (with the exception of trip days) and new this sum-
mer they may attend the pool additional hot afternoons for a way to cool

Area lawyer honoured by UWO
LONDON —Local lawyer Angus
McKenzie was honoured by the
University of Western Ontario
(UWO) with a Doctor of Laws, hon -
oris causa (LL.D.) at the 291st
Convocation June 10 at Alumni Hall.
In honour of this achieve-
ment, McKenzie's col-
leagues at his firm,
McKenzie Lake LLP, have
committed to sponsor a
Habitat for Humanity
Build in fall 2008.
"Angus has worked tire-
lessly and promoted so many
community initiatives over the
years, we felt this was a fitting trib-
ute," says McKenzie Lake partner
David Nash, adding, "Angus has
given so much to the London, St.
Thomas and Grand Bend communi-
ties, it's an honour for us to give on
behalf of all his dedication to oth-
ers."
McKenzie is a champion for a
number of community -wide charita-
ble initiatives, including his role as
chairperson for the YMCA of
Western Ontario Strong Kids
Campaign.
Among the other organizations to
which he lends his time and exper-
tise are: University Hospital
Foundation, past -chairper-
son of Museum London,
Orchestra London, King's
College, Youth
Opportunities Unlimited
and Childreach.
McKenzie is also the
recipient of The Law Society
Medal, awarded to lawyers who
make a significant contribution to
the profession of law.
McKenzie practices in areas of
estate litigation, wealth transfer
planning and preparation of Wills
and Trusts. He has lectured in civil
procedures and trial process at
UWO and at the Ontario Bar
Admission Course.
