With the official arrival of summer on Fri., June 20, it appears that trend will continue into the summer The weekend weather included warm temperatures and sunshine along with periodic down- pours! On Sunday evening, Centralia residents may have also seen funnel clouds to the southwest. There have been reports of possible tornados during the thunderstorms in Bryanston and St. Marys. If you're outside these days, watch the weather developments, especially if you're boating or at the beach. On Sun., June 22, Carol Somerville and Karen Lenting greeted everyone at the doors at Centralia United Church. Mr. Peter Gummow led worship and welcomed everyone. He invited everyone to stay for lunch follow- ing worship to celebrate the Sunday School and Mikayla Skinner's leadership. Everyone joined in the opening hymn, This is God's Wondrous World and Let Us Praise the God of Truth, accompanied by Marjorie Johns on the organ. Brad Skinner read the Scripture from Genesis 21:8- 21. Mikenzie Skinner read Matthew 10:24-39. Entry is up two steps to the front door, which is sheltered from the weather by a covered veranda that stretches around the front of the home, its decorative pillars offering an extra touch of elegance. To the left of the foyer, which is partly open to the floor above, just beyond the conveniently located coat closet, is the den, which enjoys access to the veranda. Ahead is the dining room, which flows into the great room and kitchen. The dining room's large windows look out onto the veranda, and the great room boasts a fitted gas fireplace. Windows overlook the back garden, and there is access to a patio. The kitchen features a prep island, one side of which is curved to make space for stairs leading down to the basement. A window over the sink provides a view of a patio, where two steps lead down to a paved area that goes to the double garage. An extra -large pantry will provide plenty of storage space, and the L-shaped counter configuration will save steps for the cook. Next to the kitchen is the laundry room, with access to the double garage. Opposite it is a three-piece bathroom with a shower stall, and a closet for linens and towels. Upstairs, the spacious master suite includes an en suite with a shower stall and a soaker tub, for a touch of spa -like luxury. A linen closet and roomy walk-in closet complete the suite's amenities. A small window illuminates the stair well. The second and third bedrooms share a three- piece bathroom, as well as a linen closet. The third bedroom, looking out over the front garden, features an extra -deep window sill. Exterior finishes include honeycomb shingles on the gables, which also feature ornamental upright finials. Windows are partly mullioned, and the walls are clad with horizontal siding.
