The organizers and volunteers are pleased to share the following results from the fair events. The Light Horse Show was Friday evening, with the rain holding off enough to allow all events to be completed. The Pork Carcass Competition had 10 entries from Huron County Pork Producers, with the following results: (1) Martin Van Raay, (2) John McAllister, (3) Jack and Marg Kroes, (4) Parr Line Pork and (5) Parr Line Pork. The sheep show had entries of Horned Dorsets and Oxford Sheep. Ivan Pfaff received first place in the following sections: Yearling Ram (first and second), Ram Lamb, Yearling Ewe (first and sec- ond), Ewe Lamb and Breeders' Flock. Don Dearing and Jessie Kinsmen showed Oxford sheep: Ram Lambs (1) Jessie Kinsman, (2) and (3) Don Dearing; Ewe Lamb: Don Dearing; and Market Lamb: Jessie Kinsman. Jessie Kinsman (as market lamb winner) is also the recipient of a certificate from the Old Mill. Annual tug of war competition Saturday afternoon was the annual Elementary School Tug -of - War Competition hosted by the Bluewater Tug -of -War Group. Top three teams were: Girls: Exeter Public School, Stephen Central Public School and Zurich Public School; Boys: Stephen Central Public School, Zurich Public School and Huron Centennial. The random draw winner from colouring contest entries was Jacob LaPorte of St. Boniface School. Mini -tractor pull The 2008 saw the largest num- ber of entries (in recent history) in the mini -tractor pull competition. Winners were - 25-50 lbs. Ben Edinger, Cloe McClinchey and Olivia Rego; 51-75 lbs. Maya Elmore, Evan Krebs and Maria Robinson; 76-100 lbs. Taylor Kinsman, Sadie Smith and Hannah Krebs. The prince and princess of the fair were: Kyle and Cloe McClinchey (selected by random draw). The following were winners in the Pet Show: Largest pet - Sophia Temple-Oberly and Tigger, VBS camp week ofJuly 21 By Muriel Lewis GRANTON CORRESPONDENT GRANTON - The beef and strawberry supper sponsored by the Granton -Wesley United Church at the Granton Park was well attended on June 18. St. George's Anglican Church held its ham and strawberry supper at the Ilderton Community Centre on June 19, followed by a silent auction. Granton -Wesley United Church held its annual fishing derby at the pond on Hwy. 7 on Sun., June 22 at 10 a.m. Pastor Paul Vollick led the ser- vice and the message was enti- tled "In the end, we are all winners." The Scripture reading was from Genesis 21. Taylor Jones lit the Christ candle. The choir sang In the Garden and Daryl Rainer accompanied the hymns on guitar. Rebecca Woodall from Camp Kee-mo- kee led the children's time. The Vacation Bible Camp is to be held July 21 to 25 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Granton - Wesley United Church. This year's theme is "The Pirates, they don't do anything." St. Paul's Anglican At St. Paul's Anglican Church in Kirkton on Sun., June 22, Rev. Dalice Sim cele- brated the Holy Eucharist. The message was about the assur- ance of God's forgiveness.
