The position will provide executive level support to the CAO including development and execution of policy and procedures, develop and implement corporate and emergency management communication, news releases/advisories, speeches. The candidate should have excellent skills in the areas of research, policy development, report writing, and verbal/written communication. Additionally under the direction of the CAO, the position will execute corporate projects and analysis as required. QUALIFICATIONS: • Post -secondary diploma in Corporate Communications, Public -Business Administration, or approved equivalent combination of education and experience • 3-5 years municipal experience in an administrative/public relations capacity • Completion or willingness to complete the Municipal Administration Program (AMCTO) • Exemplary communication and interpersonal skills • Detail -oriented with excellent proofreading/editing skills • Strong research, analytical and project management skills • Computer literacy utilizing MS Office software applications and proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, data base and presentation software is essential • Demonstrated leadership ability to coordinate, plan, implement and evaluate programs for customer service • The ability to maintain confidentiality is essential • Compose, input, and edit transcriptions; design and develop manuals and brochures; write detailed reports to Council and Committee and memorandums to all levels of staff; and to compose detailed correspondence to disseminate decisions of Council. Due to the pending retirement of the Municipal Clerk, the Municipality of South Huron (population 10,000) is recruiting a leader for the new Corporate Services Department, reporting directly to the CAO. In addition to the primary statutory and advisory duties of the Municipal Clerk, the Manager oversees corporate functions including human resources, corporate/public information and communications, information technology, corporate records, licensing and vital statistics, cemeteries, Council secretariat functions (including coordination of MFIPPA requests), as well as conducting municipal elections on behalf of the Municipality. The preferred candidate will possess the following qualifications: • Diploma or degree in public administration, law , business administration or related field, or progressive experience in municipal government of at least 5 years in a mid -senior position in a Clerk's or CAOs Department • Demonstrated knowledge and skills regarding information technology, automation and corporate records management systems • CHRP designation and/or direct experience in recruitment, as well as writing and implementing human resources policies and procedures • CMO and/or AMCT designation, or a commitment to obtain within a specific time frame • Superior customer service skills and ability to work in a confidential environment with a high level of attention to detail • Strong interpersonal, leadership, administrative, supervisory, analytical, problem solving organizations and time management skills • Political astuteness, tactfulness, with a firm knowledge of municipal government processes, parliamentary procedure and administrative law and municipal legislation • Ability to work evenings to attend Council and Committee meetings as required • Experience conducting municipal elections The salary range for the position is $61,828 to $72,000, and will be commensurate with qualifications.
