Mr. Dave Williams led worship and welcomed everyone. He asked Jason Essery to light the Christ can- dle. He announced that the beautiful roses in the sanctuary were provid- ed by the Bowden family in memory of Ted and Toots Bowden. Everyone joined in the opening hymn We Are One, accompanied by Marjorie Johns on the organ. Following the children's hymn, Jesus Loves Me, Mr. Williams invited all the children to the front of the church. He asked if they had done anything special yet for their dad on this Father's Day and he told a story about a father and his daughter. Scripture readings included Genesis 18:1-15 and Matthew 9:35- 38. The responsive reading was Psalm 100. Mr. Williams' message was enti- tled "Laughter, Leadership, and Courage". He explained how these all have important roles in Christianity. The congregation joined in singing God of the Sparrow and Great Is Thy Faithfulness. At Zion West United Church, Father's Day was commemorated with baptisms led by Rev. N. Vanermey. Congratulations to Chris and Becky (Hern) Verndermey on the baptism of their daughter Brooke.
