UCW met recently. Joyce
Dowson opened the meet-
ing with call to worship
and The 23rd Psalm was
sung followed by a poem
"The Most Beautiful
Flower." Joyce read a
reading on "Affirmation"
and one of the members
Deb Rathwell was
affirmed for her dedica-
tion as the leader of the
UCW as well as her com-
mitment to the church
and community. Deb is
an inspiration to all and
keeps everything running
smoothly, always there to
lend a hand and organize.
A bakeless bake sale
was held. "Bring your
money and leave your
baking at home" raised
$380 which was donated.
Donations can still be
made. Eleanor McAsh
read the benediction.
There will be a bridal
shower for Julie Webster

Varna Crokinole Club par-
ticipated in the doubles

7. The winners again for
the fourth time were
Raymond and Jason
Beierling. Congrats to
them! The other pair Abe
Leitch and Joe Fulop were
unable to qualify for a
playoff round. These four
also partici-
pated in the
singles divi-
sion. Abe Leitch rose to
the top of the players
ranks and finished a very
strong second. Raymond
Beierling was almost as
good finishing fourth.
Raymond also shared the
20's title. Jason Beierling
was able to reach the top
16 round of playoffs for
another year.
Joe Fulop received a
trophy in recognition for
his past accomplishments
in the past 10 years being
top 4, seven out of nine
years. Good job and well
done!
Worship in Varna
Margaret Hearn led the
worship in Varna on
Sunday. Time for the
young at heart was "The
Secret" and the reflection
was on "The Grass Needs
Mowing."
