HomeMy WebLinkAboutThe Times Advocate, 2008-06-04, Page 7Wednesday, June 4, 2008 Times–Advocate 7 Exeter man charged after several purses stolen EXETER — Huron OPP have arrested and charged a 33 -year-old Exeter man after a series of smash and grabs in Exeter starting May 5. The suspect targeted vehicles containing purses or other valu- ables in plain view. He committed his crimes in broad daylight along Main Street and few, if any, people noticed. Six people lost their purses from May 5 to May 27. The Huron OPP Property Crimes unit focused their efforts in this direction and a warrant was obtained and executed in Exeter May 28 at a Main Street residence. A large quantity of stolen proper- ty was recovered at the scene link- ing the suspect to the crimes. The suspect is charged with one count of possession of a controlled substance, four counts of mischief under $5,000, seven counts of pos- session of property obtained by crime under $5,000 and seven counts of theft from motor vehicles under $5,000. He was in bail court in Goderich Monday morning and will be in Exeter Court June 26.
