By Janelle Clarke
EXETER — The South Huron Beef
Club met at Andrea Hern's farm on
Mon., May 12. The roll call question
was "what is a calf breaking tip or
how far along is your calf in the
breaking process?"
Breaking and leading your

meeting.
Practical
demonstrations
The group went out to the
barn where Katie and Andrea dis-
cussed and demonstrated the quick
release knot, halter breaking, prop-
er placement of the halter, walking
your calf and using a show stick to
place the calfs feet properly.
Then the club members went
inside to begin planning a
brochure/ad as if they were going to
sell their calf. The ad for each
member's calf is going to be put
together to make a book for
achievement day. The rough copy
is due at the next meeting on
June 26.

"Rebels with a Cause" in Exeter
EXETER — The walls are coming
down in Huron County and the
youth group "Rebels with a Cause"
is gearing up to celebrate.
The anti-smoking group is in
Exeter at the parkette beside the
Bank of Montreal at 10:15 a.m.
On May 31 the display ban on
tobacco products takes effect in
Ontario.
"Rebels with a Cause" Peer
Leader Mandy Eveland says, "This
is the day that the powerwalls of
the tobacco industry come tumbling
down."
Powerwalls are the big wall of
tobacco industry products behind
the cashier at gas stations and con-
venience store and some grocery
stores.
Eveland says, "Powerwalls are
one of the last ways that the tobac-
co industry can advertise their
products directly to youth. We're
taking the power away from the
tobacco industry and giving the
power back to youth. A new gener-
ation of children can go grow up
without being influenced by the
tobacco industry."
Youth members of "Rebels with a
Cause" will be travelling around
Huron County May 31, World No
Tobacco Day.
They are chalking messages and
setting up displays to involve and
educate the public about why it is
important that the powerwalls are
coming down.
