WI prepares for market
GRAND BEND - An interesting
and informative tour of Westland
Greenhouses, Grand Bend was
enjoyed by ladies and friends of the
Grand Bend Women's Institute on
May 15. An array of colourful
annuals, shrubbery and house-
plants were admired by the ladies
and the owner explained the work
in producing these plants.
Previous to the tour the ladies
enjoyed a luncheon at Aunt
Gussie's. President Cass Lovie con-
ducted the business meeting. A
dried flower course will be held on
May 29. For more details contact
Elaine Wardle at 238-6312. The
branch will be catering to a lun-
cheon on May 22.
Upcoming programs
The programs for the Women's
Institute meetings for 2008-2009
will be printed soon. A group the-
atre trip to Blyth in July will be
checked out. The Huron South
District picnic will be hosted by
Grand Bend Branch on July 8 at
12:30 p.m. at the Lion's Pavilion.
We will participate in the Farmer's
Market on June 18.. The Grand
Bend Women's Institute will enter -

arrangement, star cookies , a col-
lage and a decorated star ornament
will be readied for the Fair. The
Grand Bend Women's Institute
website will be checked and moni-
tored.
Our next meeting is June 19 at
1:30 p.m. at the Adult Day Centre.
A representative from Wuerth
Shoes, Exeter will be our guest
speaker.

Crediton WI attends mystery tour
CREDITON — The Crediton Women's
Institute held their annual mystery tour on
Wed., May 21. The 13 member group
travelled to the Van Egmond House in
Egmondville for a tour of the home.
Pat Saundercock was the hostess and
tour guide and told the history of the family
and showed many antiques in the home.
Then it was off to J.D.'s in Bayfield for a
delicious supper. A short business meeting
was held. Chris Vanhie volunteered to look
after the fair display and plans were
made for the upcoming picnic at Alma
„tP Davey's on June 18. It's a potluck sup-
per at 6 p.m.
The district picnic will be July 8 in Grand
Bend with Crediton in charge of the farmers'
market.

Couple held after drugs found in Grand Bend
GRAND BEND — It is alleged that on May 18 officers acting on information stopped a
Chevrolet Cavalier on River Road in Grand Bend. Information indicated that a male occupant
was in possession of suspected marihuana. The occupants, a 20 -year-old female driver and the
23 -year-old male passenger were arrested . A search revealed that they were in possession of
over 120 grams of suspected marijuana. The estimated street value to be over $1,200.
The male has been held for a bail hearing facing a charge of possession for the purpose of
trafficking in a controlled substance. The female has been released facing the same charge. She
will be in court July 7.
