Manager Doug Fairbairn used his best starting pitcher, Derek Masse, to stop any Strathroy rallies. Masse responded to the challenge as he allowed no hits over the first four innings. He did tire, however, in the fifth inning and was responsible for three Strathroy runs. The Express had taken a 1-0 lead in the fourth on a long triple by Aaron Patterson and a single from Lonnie Hawke. Masse was replaced by Chris Gosnell, who pitched well allowing no runs over the next three innings. He also got himself out of a tough bases loaded situation in the Close play - Lonnie Hawke takes a throw back to first for the Exeter Express against a Strathroy player Friday night in Eexter. The Express defeated Strathroy 4-3. This was followed up by a walk to Brian McLeod, a double by Aaron Patterson that just barely stayed in the park, and a single by Nate Burns. Dan Masse was also called upon to pitch the final inning. He allowed one hit and saved the game for Gosnell who earned his second win of the year.
