Early in the spring, Gordon Hill, chairperson recruits approximately 32 "captains" from the surrounding area. This area includes the towns / villages of Bayfield, Centralia, Crediton, Dashwood, Egmondville, Exeter, Grand Bend, Hensall, Huron Park, Seaforth and Zurich and the Municipalities of Bluewater, South Huron and Huron East. These captains then gather in mid- April in Dashwood at the Community Living - South Huron complex for a great dinner pre- pared by our food service team for their annual pep -talk in the "art of being in the feel good busi- ness." Gordon is quick to point out how honoured our captains and approximately 250 canvassers are to be asked to take part in this worthy cause. This campaign allows them to become part of the feel good club because that's how you feel when the money raised goes to assist the clients with developmental challenges to participate in and contribute to all aspects of family and community life. • Community Living - South Huron supports over 100 `clients' in South Huron, North Middlesex and North Lambton. • We maintain six group homes in the area, two workshops, a bakery and support for about 35 clients in the community. • 100% of all money raised goes to the clients - no money is ever used for salary or administrative costs. • No money received from Flowers of Hope went into the cost of the new addition in Dashwood. • No money is sent out of the area to `headquarters'. • Money in the past has been spent on wheel -chairs, lifts, dentures, medical suppli orthopedic shoes, etc. Last year we raised $30,432.29. This year's tar- get is $34,000. Many thanks to our canvassers So now it's May and we say good luck and many many thanks to our canvassers. We ask that when they come knocking at your doors, you are as gen- erous as you have been in the past as you remem- ber all those who make up our community.
