Beth Knox hosted the friendship circle meeting afterward in the sunroom and served refreshments Retirement home director Julie Grimminck, led morning fun and fit- ness this week, ending the week with a fun rhyming exercise hoedown. Pastor Harry Frielink of Exeter Christian Reform Church led wor- ship for residents in the retirement home lounge with Frieda Johnston as volunteer pianist. Celebrating mothers Thursday afternoon retirement residents, family and friends cele- brated mothers with a program provided by the "Olde Spice Girls"; who sang a variety of songs to pop- ular tunes and kept everyone in stitches with their jokes. Bertie Keys won the prize for her homemade apron. Spice cake, punch and specialty teas were served following the pro- gram while residents enjoyed visit- ing with the Spice Girls and special guests The Red Hat Ladies. Lisa Stewart led the Rhythm for Life group in the afternoon with res- idents working with bells. June has been designated as Senior's month and residents have been discussing how we will cele- brate, making suggestions ranging from a coffee break to a special friendship Friday. Oste,Card TIMES ADVOCATE Five Alive conference service to be held on May 25 at 11 a.m. By Joan Beierling VARNA CORRESPONDENT VARNA - The Stan Lee Club met on Wed., May 7 with 20 present including four guests. President Charles Reid con- ducted a short business meeting. Anna Keys and Bill Taylor gave their respective reports. The guest speaker for the evening was Karen Hartwick a tea merchant from Stratford. Karen brought along several varieties of tea - all being loose tea which she believes is the best. She made tea for everyone to taste, serving it in her little white Chinese cups. Karen had white tea, green tea, earl grey, black tea and herbal tea. She used several interesting tea pots and brought along her own unique equip- ment to boil the water. Tea was available to purchase as well. Karen has traveled to the tea gardens in China. All enjoyed being served with the different teas and hearing Karen talk. Karen has a bed and breakfast in Stratford (the Rosewood Manor B&B) which also houses her tea shop. Charles Reid and Ralph Stephenson played crokinole in the Senior Games and Glen and Marlene Deichert played solo in the Senior Games. The next meeting will begin with a pot luck supper at 6 p.m. on June 4 with entertainment to follow. Varna church service Worship service in Varna on Sunday was led by worship leader Alex McGilvery from Monkton. Mother's Day was cele- brated as well as communion. Sun., May 18 Gloria Willbee will lead in worship at Goshen Church. The Five Alive Conference Sunday ser- vice will be in Varna on May 25 at 11 a.m. Speaker will be Marc Robinet speaking on Mexican Missions. Please leave your regular church envelopes at home. The offering will go to Pan de Vida Orphanage in Queretaro, Mexico. Lunch and social will follow after the service.
