Smorgasbord Lunch

Grand Bend Studio tour
Talent on display —The Grand Bend Studio and
Gallery Tour took place over the weekend. It featured
25 artists ranging from potters to painters who
opened their homes and studios to display their
work.Above is Anne Luxton, with her hand and

Vollick receives
recognition at
conference

GRANTON - At Granton -Wesley
United Church on Sun., May 4,
Pastor Paul Vollick led the service.
Stan Wyatt lit the Christ candle
and Mary Waters gave the minute
for mission.
The Scripture readings were
from Acts 1 and 1 Peter 5 and the
message was entitled "Leaving
your Mark." Time was shared with
the young people of the congrega-
tion.
On Sat., May 24 at 7:30 p.m.,
Granton -Wesley minister Pastor
Paul Vollick will be recognized at
the London Conference to be held
at the Aylmer Community Centre.
All are welcome to attend.
Note: At Granton -Wesley Church
last Sun., April 27, a baptism
should have read that Pastor Paul
Vollick baptized Keira Mae
Lambourn, daughter of Karen
Ingram and Joshua Lambourn.
St. Paul's Anglican
At St. Paul's Anglican Church in
Kirkton on Sun., May 4, Rev.
Dalice Sim celebrated the Holy
Eucharist, and spoke about the
ascension of Jesus into Heaven.
The message was about building
God's kingdom of justice and
peace here on earth. Emma
Blackler read the Lessons.

Beta Alpha Master Chapter
EXETER - Early in April Beta
Alpha Master Chapter met at Aunt
Gussies restaurant for lunch. For
the business part of the meeting
they gathered at the home of Pat
Patterson in Grand Bend. The
ways and means committee held a
successful silent auction.
On April 29 the group held their
Founder's Day Banquet at the
Ironwood Club House. Joanne
Bowen and her committee, Pat
Patterson, Donna Jones and Pat
Fletcher planned the special event
using "sing a song of sisterhood" as
their theme. The tables were
tastefully decorated.
Sorority member
commemorated
0 Canada was sung and the
opening ritual given. Donna Jones
led in the Beta Sigma Phi grace.
Words of welcome were given by
president Ada Dinney. The dia-
mond circle ritual was conducted
by Ada commemorating her sister
Elsie Herman's sorority member-
ship of 60 years.
The message from International
was read by Pat Fletcher. The
theme for 2008-2009 was
announced. A special guest at the
banquet was legacy member
Elyzabeth Skillender. A game of
charades was played to close the
afternoon. In the evening several
members attended the Canadian
Cancer Society's volunteer appreci-
ation dinner at the Seaforth Legion.
Several members received 30 year
pins and a certificate was present-
ed to our chapter.

Huron SPCA Animal House
dinner auction ready to go!
Ready to go - Kate McKenzie, dinner auction chairperson and
Dave Gill of Southwest Marine Services in Grand Bend don life jack-
ets to demonstrate the ocean kayak that Gill has donated to the
charity's auction. The event raises funds for the animal shelter in
Huron County and is being held on May 30 at the South Huron
Recreation Centre in Exeter. The event sold out at the end of
February, but McKenzie says that she has a few tickets that have
been returned and are still available. "We worked very hard to
ensure that everyone on the waiting list got a ticket even if it meant
that co-chair Liam Brennan had to give up his seat!" Anyone inter-
ested in attending should contact Kate at 5 1 9-236-4044.There are
many interesting and unique items up for auction including the
kayak, dinners, golf packages, art, home decor and a tugboat ride for
