The roll call question was "what is the name and breed of your calf or name one body part of a beef animal." Quality without growth hormones Dan Shapton explained many things to us. Some of the highlights were his explanation of artificial insemina- tion, flushing, and tit' what to look for when breeding cows. He encouraged the mem- bers to pick out attributes that would make a good beef ani- mal. Their farm philosophy is to Iy raise a quality Angus product through genetics with- out the use of any growth hor- mones. They breed their herd to show, to fatten for market and to replace their own stock. Thanks to the Shaptons for giving us a tour of their farm. The next meeting is at Andrea Hern on Mon., May 12 at 7 p.m. Denfield Livestock Sales Denfield Livestock Sales Market Report for Tues., April 29.
