Crokinole
tournament
By Nina Van Lieshout
TIMES -ADVOCATE STAFF
EXETER — The "It's Only
Crokinole: But I Like It"
Tournament is Saturday.
Exeter resident and world
crokinole champion and author
Joe Fulop says although num-
bers this year are up, 43 people
from 34 people in 2007, he is
still looking for more players,
particularly in the recreational
division.
"The recreational division
needs more players, as only 15
are entered so far," says Fulop.
The tournament, previously
called the J. Fulop Invitational
Crokinole Tournament, is at
South Huron District High
School in the school cafeteria in
Exeter, beginning at 12:30 p.m.
and wrapping up around 5 p.m.
Fulop is asking people inter-
ested to register by tomorrow
(Thursday), by contacting him
at 235-1022 or e -mailing at jfu-
lop@cablety. on. ca
Fulop says some well-recog-
nized players will be in atten-
dance, including Brian Cook.
"He has won the last six tour-
naments on the crokinole sched-
ule and is a definite favourite,"
says Fulop.
Locally Jason and Ray
Beierling of Varna are partici-
pating, while Dan Shantz, Ray
Kappes and possibly Brian
Hartung will play too.
Cash prizes will be awarded to
the winners.
Fulop will be selling his book
"It's Only Crokinole: But I Like
It" at the tournament.
