Treasures, treats and trunks fundraising April 26

THAMES ROAD -The
Stewardship Sunday Easter 5
Church Service was held on
Sunday morning. The
Stewardship response skit took
place with Helen Kadey as
`Kelly the roving reporter', Ruth
Anne Osgood dressed as 'Dr.
Stewardship', Sharon Passmore
as `ailing United Church', Judith
Parker came in a wheelchair as
a `patient', Karen Etherington
as a `patient on the run', Grace
Pym 'a visiting doctor', spoke a
few words, Sharon Lynn spoke a
few words and then gave a
minute for council.
Everyone sang the hymn
Praise the Lord with Sound of
Trumpet and Judith Parker lit
the Christ candle and the red
candle for Peace. Judith gave
words of welcome and everyone
passed the Peace.
Judith led in the call to wor-
ship responsively and everyone
read the Prayer of Praise in uni-
son. Judith gave the announce-
ments.
The Scripture Lesson Psalm
148: 1-14 was read by June
Stewart. The hymn This Is Our
Father's World was sung.
Psalm 24 was read responsively
with Helen Kadey as leader.
The choir sang We Bear The
Name accompanied by the
pianist Marilyn Vandenbussche.
The Lord's Prayer was read
responsively.
The title of the message was
"The Plant Doctor" with Helen
Kadey, Judith Parker, Sharon
Passmore and Ruth Anne
Osgood taking part.
The prayer of confession was
read in unison with Ruth Anne
as leader.
Joyce Fulton and Anne
Kernick received the offering
with Ruth Anne as the leader
for the offertory prayer in uni-
son.
The hymn In the Bulb There is
A Flower was sung and Sharon
Passmore gave the blessing.
Everyone sang the choral
benediction. Everyone went
downstairs where they enjoyed
squares and cookies thanks to
the stewardship committee. All
donations went to Camps Bimini
and Menesetung.

and bowling party at 7 p.m. at
the Town and Country Bowling
Lanes in Zurich. Following
bowling everyone is invited to
the home of Ben and Karen
Geiger and family for pizza.

cake and sausage brunch fol-
lowing the service.

will be held at MacNaughton

Bob and Martha Heywood,
Larry and Alice Gardiner, Earl
and Marilyn Miller were among
the 35 people who went to the
Holy Lands for two weeks..
Their trip included Israel,
Jordon, four nights in
Jerusalem, sailing on the Sea of
Galilee and swimming in the
Dead Sea.
Word was received at church
on Sunday that the late Ola
Batten had passed away.
Sympathy is extended to her
husband John, Sharon and Dave
Passmore, Helen and Ken
Kadey, Ralph and Cathy Batten
and their families, Bill Johns
and Ruth Irvine, Irene Dunn and
Diane Weber and families.
Sympathy of the community is

passing of Bev's brother the late

MARINATED CARROT SALAD
A CARROT SALAD IS A NICE COMPLIMENT TO A BUFFET
TABLE. IT IS COLORFUL AND OFFERS VARIETY TO THOSE THAT
LIKE TO TRY NEW AND EXCITING SALADS. THIS IS A RECIPE I
RECEIVED FROM OTHER COOKS THAT WORK WITH THE
SENIOR DINING PROGRAM. IT IS FAVORED BY THE GUESTS
AND CAN BE MADE DAYS AHEAD.
1 bunch carrots sliced and blanched for 8 minutes,
drained
1/2 green pepper slithered
3 or 4 ribs of celery diced
1 Spanish onion cut in rings
Dressing:
1/2 can tomato soup
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup oil
1/2 tsp dry mustard
Salt and pepper to taste
1/3 cup vinegar
Mix together and add to vegetables. Let stand at least 24
hours. Try it today!
