Panthers host rugby
EXETER — The South
Huron District High School
girls rugby team opened
their season on Friday
when they hosted their
annual tournament. The
Panthers lost their first
game, 10-0 to St. Mikes
and their second to
Mitchell, 5-0.
In the Panthers third
game against Madill, South
Huron started to come
together as a team and
they earned a well
deserved 10-0 victory.
Janita Pfaff and Chantel
Masse each scored a try.
In their fourth game, the
Panthers played their best
game of the day, defeating
Clarke Road 15-0 on two
tries from Terri Stuckless
and one from Danielle
Love.
The girls played well for
their first day out and it
was a great day of rugby,
said coach Terry
O'Rourke.

Comments: Successful
weekend for the team. The
girls played great hockey
to remain undefeated,
however three points
unfortunately wasn't
enough to advance out of
pool play. Every player
poured everything they
had into the Woodstock
game and the three veter-
an players played their
hearts out.
South Huron's defence
was very strong, however
the girls just couldn't get
that needed goal to make
the difference. Overall –
job well done team.

Capsule Comments
by Ernie Miatello
Cold sores are caused by the herpes simplex -1
virus. About 80% of people carry this virus around
with them but no symptoms occur because the
virus lies dormant in the body. About 20-40% of
those with the virus experience outbreaks
occasionally. There are excellent prescription drugs to treat this
condition. Abreva is an ointment available without prescription which
does work if used early.
The darker green lettuce is generally better nutritionally than the light
green types. For example, Romaine lettuce has much more vitamin A
and C than a lighter colour lettuce like iceberg.
Generally, both the incidence and mortality rates of cancer are
higher in Atlantic Canada and Quebec and are lowest in British
Columbia. This difference is due, in part, to the higher incidence of
smoking rates in Quebec and the Atlantic provinces.
April is national Cancer Month in Canada. When a canvasser comes
to your door, please give generously. There have been many
successes in cancer research and one day cancer will be beaten.
A good balanced diet, plenty of exercise and a healthy non-
smoking lifestyle can reduce the risk of cancer. If you need advice on
how to stop smoking, our pharmacy staff is available with information.
