Biddulph 150 donates
Heritage and history —The Biddulph 150 Celebration Committee
(1850-2000) presented two cheques in Lucan April 2, totalling $5,100.
The money was originally to be used for a Biddulph 150
Commemorative Scholarship, however it was discontinued due to a lack

Helping out — Community Living South Huron Auxiliary treasurer Ann Klungel (right)
presented a check to residents of Community Living April 3.The donation was from the
proceeds of the thrift store with each of the approximately 90 clients receiving $200. Since

Helping reduce hunger —Varna -Goshen United Churches, along with their urban part-
ners from ParkView United Church in Stratford are preparing for the upcoming growing
season for the 2008 Canadian Foodgrains Bank Project. Pictured above from left, after a

and Gordon Hill were on hand to mark the 10th anniversary of their involvement with the

GRANTON - At the Granton -Wesley
United Church on Sun., April 6, Mary
Waters gave the minute for mission
and the Christ candle was lit by Ruth
Cook and Lucas Vollick. The Scripture
reading was from Luke 24.
Pastor Paul Vollick led the service
and the message was entitled "Clearing
the fog." The ministry of music by the
choir was Wonderful Grace of Jesus.
Time was shared with the young peo-
ple of the congregation.
On Sun., April 13 at 10:30 a.m. the
annual joint service of the North
Middlesex churches will be hosted by
Ilderton-Birr congregation at the Ailsa
Craig Community Centre. There will be
no service at Granton -Wesley next
Sunday.
On April 11 and 12, the young people
of Granton -Wesley will be participating
in the 30 -Hour Famine.
St. Paul's Anglican
At St. Paul's Anglican Church in
Kirkton on Sun., April 6, Rev. Dalice
Sim celebrated the Holy Eucharist. The
message was about God's Son over-
coming death to bring salvation to the
world. Fraser Urquhart read the
lessons.
Granton UCW
Ruth Cook was the hostess for the
meeting of Granton -Wesley UCW Unit 3
on Tuesday evening, April 1, with 15
attending. President Elizabeth Garrett
opened with the origin of April Fool's
Day and led the business. Plans were
made for the April 8 general UCW
meeting when Val Thomson will speak
on her 2007 Mission to Uganda with
Hope for Haiti. Everyone is welcome at
7:30 p.m.
The regional rally will take place on
April 22 with registration at 7 p.m. The
theme will be "Walk Gently, Step
Lightly On the Earth."
Donna Westman and Elizabeth pre-
sented the program on spring and gar-
dens, also explaining how Daffodil Day
originated. Donna had a quiz on the
'Hymn for All Things' and closed with
prayer and grace.
Hostess Ruth was honoured on her
special birthday with a cake served by
Elizabeth and Donna.
