presented by BK's Bridal and Tuxedo Centre in Listowel, who provided
the bridal gowns. Also involved in the fashion show were Thomas H. Fine
Menswear of Exeter and Collins Formal Wear of London. Pictured above

CENTRALIA — Kenworth is a name well
respected in the trucking industry. Their
road tractors are seen pulling stock trailers,
enclosed vans and flat bed trailers piled high
with lumber and any number of other prod-
ucts.
Remie Grimminck works for a company
with a fleet of grain hauling transports, so is
familiar with the mechanics of such
machines. He decided he would like a bulk
hauler and it had to be a Kenworth. Space
to park such a rig was a problem, so it had
to be small. Small Kenworths don't exist,
but this is no problem for the likes of guys
like Remie. He just went ahead and built
one.
The miniature Kenworth is based on a
Massey Ferguson riding lawn mower, hydro-
static transmission included. A three -horse-
power Honda engine was the engine of
choice to power the rig. A MTD mower
donated its hood for the new machine, and
to get the tapered end to be at the front, the
hood was put on back to front and forward
tilting, just like the big brother.
A Kenworth key chain fob was used as a
hood ornament and latch. The fifth -wheel
plate is a scaled-down version of the real
thing with automatic locking jaws, a real
challenge even for Remie. To complete the
real thing look, a second axle was built
behind the original lawn mower axle, thus
giving it a tandem look.
Building an end dump trailer is no problem
when you work for a company that uses this
type of trailer. Materials are readily avail-
able and the technology is easy to copy.
Remie's miniature even has a working lift
support axle. The dump box lifts by means of
a 12 -volt motorized screw, the same type of
device he uses to lift the support axle. The
rear door latch is a rope -trip mechanical sys-
tem similar to that used in most end dump
trailers. This whole outfit is one neat bit of
engineering.
The "We Care" Men's Charity Breakfast is
April 19, the third Saturday of each month,
at 8:30 a.m. at the Malibu Restaurant south
of Exeter. We extend an invitation to anyone
wishing to share his good fortune to help
someone less fortunate. We enjoy sharing
our stories of building and the stories of
building our relationship with Jesus Christ,
the teacher of righteous living.
