POLICE BRIEF
HURON PARK — Huron
OPP officers observed a
pickup truck being oper-
ated in Huron Park in
South Huron March 29.
The vehicle had a loud
exhaust system. The offi-
cers activated the emer-
gency lights and followed
the truck into a private
lane on Algonquin Drive.
The officer spoke to the
driver who had an odour
of an alcoholic beverage
on his breath. Open alco-
hol was located in the
truck too. The driver was
given a demand for a
roadside -screening test
to which he complied but
the result was a fail. The
driver was arrested for
driving with over 80 mil-
ligrams of alcohol per
100 millilitres of blood in
his system. The male was
escorted to the Exeter
Detachment where he
provided two samples of
his breath to a qualified
Breathalyzer technician.
The readings were nearly
three times the legal limit
of 80 milligrams of alco-
hol. A 38 -year-old South
Huron man has been
charged with one count
of impaired driving and
one count of driving with
over 80 milligrams of
alcohol. He will appear in
Exeter Court June 26. His
licence was also suspend-
ed for 90 days.
