Hurondale WI learns about maple syrup
By Bev Campbell
EXETER — Members of
Hurondale W.I. met at the
home of Marilyn Pym for
their March meeting.
President Fern Dougall
opened the meeting and
the Institute Ode and Mary
Stewart Collect were recit-
ed in unison. The roll call
was answered by mem-
bers telling their recollec-
tions of maple syrup.
Marilyn then introduced
the guest speaker, Wayne
Tuckey. Wayne had a
very interesting story to
tell of his family's tradition
with maple syrup going
back to 1884. The making
of maple syrup today is a
very precise operation
with many rules and regu-
lations and is very weath-
er dependent, but the end
product is something
enjoyed by many.
Lorraine Alexander
thanked Wayne for a most
interesting talk with a gift
of appreciation.
District annual May
15
The business portion of
the meeting took place
and president Fern gave
out some dates to remem-
ber. The District Annual
on May 15 will be at the
Riverview Estates Club
House. There is a board
meeting on April 1; the
district picnic on July 8
will be hosted by Grand
Bend. An invitation to the
