Judy Mills of Centralia welcomed everyone and gave the announcements Ray Mills lit the Christ candle, the Peace candle and also a candle for the late Sam Skinner. Judy Mills gave the call to worship. The combined choir sang Three Tall Trees Stood accompanied by Mike Brine of Woodham. Rev. Nancy Wetselaar, THAMES minister of Kirkton and Woodham United Churches read the first Scripture John 12:12-15. Everyone sang the hymn Hosanna Loud Hosanna accompanied by Mike Brine on the organ and Judy Mills on the piano. Woodham choir sang Open the Gates to the Temple accompanied by Verla Copeland at the piano. Barry Miller of Thames Road read the second Scripture John 19:16-24. Thames Road - Elimville sang Beneath the Cross of Jesus accompanied by the pianist Mike Brine. Everyone sang the hymn Were you There accompanied by Mike Brine and Judy Mills. Rev. Nancy Wetselaar gave prayers for the people. The third Scripture lesson John 20:1- 10 was read by Centralia Zion minister Peter Gummow. A vocal solo sung by Mike Brine was accompanied by his own C.D. entitled The Easter Song. Rev. Judith Ritchie of Thames Road - Elimville United Church told the children's story entitled "Butterflies" The offering was received by Kathy Bray, Glenn Benoit, Cameron Denham, and Brenda Hern. Rev. Judith Ritchie gave the offertory prayer. The fourth Scripture reading John 20:11-18 was read by Helen Kadey of Thames Road - Elimville United Church. The hymn Jesus Christ is Risen was sung accompanied by Mike and Judy. The Centralia choir sang The King Is Coming with Rob Essery and his wife Mary Peterson taking the solo parts accompanied by the pianist Mike Brine. Peter Gummow of Centralia gave the benediction and also said the grace. The choir sang an Easter benediction. Everyone partook of fruit bread, cheese etc. and beverage which brought a wonderful morning to a close. Announcements The flowers in the sanctuary are placed in memory of Sam Skinner by his wife Aldeen, his children Karen and Gord, Gary and Cathy and Dianne, his grandchildren Craig and Melissa, Scott and Julie, Jacquelyn and Alandrea and his great-granddaughter Annabelle. We wish to extend our deepest sympa- thy to Sam's family and friends. Sale starts at 8:30 a.m. Trunks - Fill your trunk and back seat too. Park your car at the community centre and sell your goods from your trunk. Cost for a parking spot is $10. Sales start at 8:30 a.m Grab a hot dog, treat and beverage at the BBQ tent. All proceeds to support Kirkton United Church. Personals A large crowd of people called at the Haskett Funeral Home Exeter on Sunday to pay their respect to the late Gerald Ballantyne of Sudbury. Sympathy is extended to his wife and family and to his brother Ross and Alma and to his sister Helen and Eric Kints and their families and other relatives. Happy Birthday to Larry Ballantyne, Ola Batten Barbara Passmore and Marilyn Rohde whose birthdays are all on April 3. Join in ladies breakaway day on Sat, April 5 By Mary Peterson CENTRALIA CORRESPONDENT CENTRALIA - On Sun., March 30, the Community of Local United Churches (CLUC) hosted worship at Centralia United Church. Members of the congrega- tions from United Churches in Kirkton, Woodham, Thames Road-Elimville, Zion West, and Centralia gathered together to continue the Easter celebration in song and Scripture. David Elliot and Bill and Jason Essery greeted everyone at the door. Judy Mills welcomed everyone, and expressed her thanks to all for attending. She explained that the choir included singers from the local area churches and announced upcoming events for the various par- ticipating churches in the area. She explained that the beautiful flowers in the sanctuary were in memory of Sam Skinner, a cherished and devoted member of Centralia United Church. Ray Mills lit the Christ candle, a candle in memory of Sam Skinner, and a candle for the friends and fami- ly of Sam and others who may be experiencing very difficult times. Joyful sounds Mike Brine provided piano accompaniment for an anthem by the combined choir, Three Tall Trees Stood. Rev. Nancy Wetselaar read the Scripture from John 12:12 to 15, followed by the hymn Hosanna, Loud Hosana. Barry Miller read the Scripture from John 19: 16 to 24. The Thames Road-Elimville choir combined their voices for the anthem, Beneath the Cross of Jesus. Everyone joined in the hymn Were You There? Peter Gummow read the Scripture from John 20, verses one to 10. Mike Brine shared his wonderful musical talents with a solo. Rev. Judith Ritchie invited the children to the front of the church to share their special projects. They made lovely butterflies during the service. Rev. Ritchie explained that caterpillars undergo many changes before they become beautiful butterflies, and Jesus also had to experience several stages. Following the offering, Helen Kadey read the Scripture from John 20, verses to 11 to 18, and every- one joined in the hymn Jesus Christ Is Risen Today. The Centralia choir shared their anthem, The King Is Coming. Peter Gummow offered the benediction and invited everyone to stay for coffee, tea and fellowship follow- ing worship. To complete the service, the choir and congregation joined in singing the lively tune He Is Risen. Coming up On Sat., April 5, Zion West United Church ladies will host their annual Ladies Breakaway at the Kirkton- Woodham Community Centre. If you're interested in the availability of tickets, contact Karen Brock. Next Sunday, April 6, the Foodgrains Joint Church service will be held at 10:30 a.m. at Exeter United Church. Fred Knip will be guest speaker. A chili lunch will follow. Zion West and Centralia United Churches are asked to provide cookies. Please contact Brent Caslick for more information. Also on April 6, Dave Robilliard (percussionist) will share his musical talents at Exeter United Church at 2 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students. A reminder that the UCW April event will be held in Exeter on April 7. Centralia United Church invites everyone to a pork dinner on April 19 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tickets are available from the Stewards and cost $13 for adults and $6 for children ages six to 12.
