Friday Service: A fair
crowd attended the Good
Friday evening service.
Rev. Judith Ritchie lit the
red candle for Peace and
gave words of welcome
and people passed the
Peace.
The new Introit Tree of
Life and Awesome
Mystery was sung.
Everyone joined in the
opening prayer in unison.
The choir's anthem was
entitled God Paid the
Ransom with Beth Cooper
singing the verses and the
choir singing the choruses,
accompanied by the
pianist Jean Hodgert.
Rev. Judith told Katelyn
Parsons about the "cross"
and everyone sang the
Lord's Prayer in unison.
Marilyn Vandenbussche
read from Gospel of John
19:1-5.
Rev. Judith gave the
meditation about the
"crown" and placed a
crown on the cross.
Everyone sang the first
verse of Were You There?
Marilyn Vandenbussche
read from the Gospel of
John 19:16b-18 and Rev.
Judith gave the meditation
of the "cross, the nails"
Everyone sang the sec-
ond verse of Were You
There? Marilyn
Vandenbussche read the
Gospel of John 19:23-25.
Everyone sang the third
verse of Were You There?
Marilyn Vandenbussche
read the Gospel of John
19:28-29 and Rev. Judith
held a sponge up to the
cross.
Everyone sang the vers-
es four and five of Were
You There?
Rev. Judith gave the
invitation for communion.
Everyone sang Jesus
Remember Me and joined
in on the communion
prayer responsively.
Everyone joined in the
singing of Eat This Bread.
Rev. Judith, Beatrice
Dawson, Melonie Miller,
Judith Parker, and
Marianne Veldman assist-
ed with communion
Everyone read the
prayer after communion
and read the affirmation
of our faith "A new
Creed."
Melonie Miller and
Judith Parker received the
offering and everyone
sang You Nourish Us and
read the offertory prayer.
The choir sang Beneath
The Cross of Jesus accom-
panied by the pianist Jean
Hodgert.
Everyone left the church
in silence; it was a very
impressive service.
Easter breakfast
Sixty-five people par-
took of the Easter break-
fast provided by the wor-
ship committee namely
Beatrice Dawson, Melonie
Miller, Judith Parker,
Marianne Veldman and
spouses.
While the breakfast
went on a short program
was enjoyed. Judith
Parker was M.C. Beth
Cooper and her daughter
Shan played a piano duet.
Sharon Passmore gave a
stewardship reading.
Bill Rohde played the
piano and mouth organ.
Janis Richardson gave a
reading trivia on Easter.
Beth Cooper played the
piano accompaniment for
the children to sing two
songs which was much
enjoyed.
Easter church service
The service commenced
with the singing of On
Easter Day accompanied
by Jean Hodgert. Rev.
Judith Ritchie lit the Christ
candle. The call to wor-
ship was in unison. Rev.
Judith gave words of wel-
come and everyone
passed the Peace.
The Introit Thine is The
Glory was sung. Everyone
read the Easter Prayer
from the hymn book in
unison.
Sharon Passmore lit the
red candle for Peace. Rev.
Judith gave the announce-
ments. Rev. Judith then
told the children about
butterflies and then they
made butterflies and
coloured them.
The Lord's Prayer was
sung in unison. The First
Lesson Luke 24:1 - 10
"The Resurrection" was
read by Rev. Judith.
The Second Lesson John
20:3-10 was read by
Sharon Passmore.
Everyone sang the hymn
This Is The Day That God
Has Made.
The Third Lesson John
20:11-18 "Jesus Appears
to Mary Magdalene" was
read by Rev. Judith.
The Fourth Lesson Luke
24:13-16, 29-35 "The
Walk to Emmaus" was
read by Sharon Passmore.
Everyone sang the hymn
As We Walked Home At
Close of Day.
The Fifth Lesson Luke
24:36-43 "Jesus Appears
to His Disciples" was read
by Rev. Judith.
The Sixth Lesson John
20:24-29 "Jesus and
Thomas" was read by
Sharon Passmore.
The Seventh Lesson
Matthew 28:16-20 was
read by Rev. Judith.
The Eighth Lesson 1
Peter 1:3-9 was read by
Sharon Passmore.
The choir sang He Lives
For Evermore accompa-
nied the pianist Jean
Hodgert. Everyone read
affirmation of our faith "A
New Creed" in unison.
Janet Coward received
the offering and everyone
sang Grant Us God the
Grace, and read the offer-
tory prayer.
Everyone read "A
Prayer for Homes and
Families" from the hymn
book.
Everyone sang the dos-
ing hymn Joyful, Joyful
We Adore Thee.
Rev. Judith gave the
commissioning and pro-
nounced the benediction.
The choral benediction
May the God of Hope Go
With Us and the choir
sang An Easter Song.
After church an Easter
egg hunt was planned for
the 10 and under crowd
while the adults enjoyed
cup cakes and beverages
thanks to Rev. Judith. It
was a marvelous morning
and service.

Cancer fundraiser —The annual Daffodil Day takes place Friday sponsored in Exeter by the Beta Sigma Phi
Sorority, with all proceeds going to the Huron Perth Cancer Society. Daffodil Day has taken place in Exeter
for over 32 years, with a total last year of $5,666. Daffodils will be available at Edward Jones Investments,
Holtzmann's Foodland, Hansen's Independent, the Post Office and on Main Street. Daffodils are $6 per bunch

Lenten tree -instead of a
Lenten calendar we will
be having a money tree
again this year. Donations
to go in the gallon jar in
basement or to get credit,
place an envelope on the
collection plate.
The finance committee
is having a cheese
fundraiser campaign for
spring. Order forms are
included in the newsletter
mailing for Easter.

Toronto spent the holiday
weekend with her cousins

attended the Maple Syrup
Festival at the Hibbert
Township Shed on
Saturday.
Quite a number of peo-

called at the Haskett
Funeral Home Exeter on
Sunday to pay their
respect to the late Sam
Skinner. Sympathy is
extended to his wife
Aldeen and family and
other relatives.
Easter gatherings were
held at a lot of different
homes over the weekend
and on Sunday.

Huron OSPCA (Ontario Humane Society)
Tango is a shy girl, approximately 4 months
in age, who came into the shelter with
Zephyr. She is unsure of fast movements
right now but is quite affectionate once she
is scratched under her chin. Tango gets
along well with the other cats in the shelter
and loves to chase the balls around with the
other kittens. Come see Tango today!
