Queensway enjoys dancing to Irish tunes
HENSALL — Marie Flynn and The Huron Strings
played to a full house on Sat., March 15 at
Queensway's St. Patrick's party. Residents danced to
It's a Long Way to Tipperary, McNamara's Band,
When Irish Eyes are Smiling, and many more Irish
tunes. Dancers Hilary and Courtney Feeney of Dublin
were also a special treat as they stepdanced their
way into the hearts of the residents. Shamrock cook-
ies, kiwi juice and green beer were served to the
appreciative crowd by the volunteer auxiliary.
The Hensall Legion women have been supplying
the assistance and prizes for the Monday afternoon
bingo games this month that residents enjoy so
much. Lori Burt registered massage therapist is also
in each Monday providing her service to the many
residents who benefit.
Liberals host
agricultural
roundtable
LUCKNOW — Federal Liberal
candidate for Huron -Bruce Greg
McClinchey will be jointly hosting
an agricultural roundtable with
other area Liberal candidates
Thurs., March 20.
In addition to McClinchey,
Orlando DaSilva (Kitchener -
Conestoga), Tim Fugard (Sarnia-
Lambton), Suzanne VanBommel
(Elgin -Middlesex -London), Thom
Noble (Bruce -Grey -Owen Sound)
and Matt Daudlin (Chatham -
Kent -Essex) will participate. In
addition to area farmers and
local farm leadership, the Liberal
Vice -Chair of the Standing
Committee on Agriculture and
Agri -Food, Paul Steckle, and
Liberal Party of Canada National
Critic for Agriculture, Wayne
Easter, will be participating in the
discussions.
"The Liberal Party of Canada is
committed to the establishment of
a long-term, fully -funded
National Food Security Policy,"
McClinchey said. "Simply put,
once enacted, this policy would,
for the first time in history, bring
focus to government program-
ming and policies pertaining to
agriculture with the goal of set-
ting the industry on a stable foot-
ing for the next generation.
"Farmers need policies and pro-
gramming that are long-term,
sustainable and bankable and, if
the industry is to survive, they
need it now. To do this effectively,
governments must listen to indus-
try leaders and farmers directly;
something that this consultation
is set to kick off."
Steckle added, "If elected, this
group of candidates would repre-
sent the bulk of the National
Liberal Rural Caucus and with
that in mind, I believe that it is
very important to start building
and maintaining stronger work-
ing ties between stakeholders and
political leaders.
"The Liberal Party has signalled
a profound desire to move quickly
and decisively on this matter and
it is encouraging to see such
energy and devotion from our
area candidates.
"I look forward to working with
our candidates, with our farmers
and with our farm leadership to
make certain that a national food
security policy is implemented
without delay," Steckle conclud-
ed.
