March is Nutrition Month and it's a good time
to remind everyone that your best nutrients come
from the food we eat. For example, it has been
shown that calcium is better absorbed into our
bones from food sources than from
supplements. Good calcium sources are of course dairy products
and leafy green vegetables. Calcium supplements certainly have
their place however.
One of the most uncomfortable items of apparel for men is the
neck tie. Tight neck ties can impede blood flow to the head which
can increase the pressure in the eyes. Glaucoma is manifested by
greater increased pressure in the eye. Perhaps the dress tie is bad
for our health. Many men will cheer at this thought.
It seems that many recent health reports are emphasizing the
importance of limiting the eating of red meat to about 500 g per
week. That's a little more than a pound. Doing this simple thing will
reduce our risk of cancer. This limit doesn't apply to chicken or
seafood.
Whooping cough (pertussis) is a highly contagious bacterial
infection of the respiratory tract. It poses a serious health risk to
young infants and it is entirely preventable by ensuring your child
gets vaccinated on schedule.
