The market at Denfield Livestock Sales traded on a very strong demand at prices $2 higher on the good fed cattle and $4 high- er on the fancy cattle. A good offering of cows were very active at prices $2 - $4 higher. Two hundred hol- stein bull calves sold active- ly at fully steady prices according to quality. Don Eedy and Mark Vanderploeg, Denfield sold 37 heifers average weight 1509 average price 87.59 to a high of 91.75 purchased by Norwich Packers. Urquhart Farms, St. Marys sold 23 heifers aver- age weight 1322 average price 85.40 to a high of 88.50 purchased by Ralph Bos Meats, Strathroy. New soybean directors GUELPH - The Ontario Soybean Growers (OSG) recently announced a new executive to represent Ontario's 25,000 soybean growers. Leo Guilbeault, a grower from Essex county and chair of the Ontario Grains and Oilseeds Safety Net Committee was elected as chair for a second year at the Board's inaugural meeting in Guelph early this month. Kevin Marriott of Lambton and Kim Fysh of Kent were elected as first and second vice chairs along with John Johnston of Elgin round- ing out the executive. "We are fortunate to have a very strong and talented group of people working on behalf of soybean growers," says Guilbeault. Five new directors were elected to the OSG Board for 2008; Mark Huston of Kent; Keith Black of Huron; Helmuth Spreitzer of Dufferin, Waterloo, Wellington, Hamilton -Wentworth; Ken Thompson of Bruce and Dwight Foster of eastern Ontario. "OSG is grateful for the leadership and dedica- tion retiring Board members showed during their tenure as directors and we look forward to working with the new members of our Board." says Guilbeault.
