Irish eliminated byTrojans
LUCAN - The
Lucan Irish took the
Thamesford
Trojans to seven
games but came up
short as they were
eliminated by the
Trojans Sunday
night in
Thamesford with a
6-1 loss.
The Irish forced
game seven by win-
ning 5-2 Saturday
in Lucan after the
Trojans had won
twice 7-1 earlier in
the week.
The Irish had a 2-
1 lead in the series
Feb. 27 when they
hosted the Trojans
but after a scoreless
first period
Thamesford took
control with four
goals in the second
period and three
more in the third for
the 7-1 win.
Bob Martin had the
lone goal for the
Irish as they went
zero for eight on the
power play and the
Trojans scored five
times with the man -
advantage.
Friday night in
Thamesford, Chris
Van Kastern gave
the Irish a 1-0 lead
midway through the
first period but it
was all Thamesford
after that.
The Trojans
evened the scored
before the period
was over, added two
more in the second
and put the game

away in the third
with four more.
Back in Lucan
Saturday night, the
Irish were trying to
force the series to a
seventh game and
Martin put them
ahead 1-0 in the first
with a power play
goal.
The Trojans
evened the score in
the second period
but Martin again
gave the irish the
lead and Justin
Lightfoot scored at
17:41 for a 3-1
Lucan lead.
Thamesford got
close with a goal at
11:12 of the third
period but just 20
seconds later Alex
Regan restored the
two -goal Lucan lead
and Kevin Dean
sealed the win with
an empty net goal at
18:52.
Sunday night Dean
put the Irish on the
board in the first
period but it was all
Thamesford after
that as they scored
twice before the
period was over and
four times in the
second for the 6-1
victory and the
series win.
