Men's breakfast with Fr. Peter Keller March 8

ZURICH CORRESPONDENT
ZURICH - The Bean Festival committee will be hav-
ing their annual meeting this Wed., March 5 at 7:30
p.m. at the Bluewater Complex. All are invited to
attend.
The Blood Donor Clinic is being held on Sat.,
March 8 at the Zurich Complex from 10 a.m. to 1
p.m. No appointments are necessary, just drop in
anytime during those hours and donate your blood
to help save lives!
Don't forget to attend the World Day of Prayer at
the Zurich Mennonite Church this Fri., March 7
starting at 2 p.m. This is a community wide service
and all are welcome.
Happy 65th birthday wishes go out to Cecilia Smith
on Feb. 28. She enjoyed going out to dinner with
her sisters and a surprise family birthday party was
held at the home of son David and Michelle Smith
last Saturday in Goderich.
John and Helen Consitt returned home on the
weekend after spending the past three weeks in
Florida.
Joe and Carolyn Rau recently spent two weeks in
Florida along with her sister Susan and Pat and
Vicki and Randy Geoffrey. Then the Raus stayed
and spent another week in Ft. Lauderdale.
The Men's Breakfast will be held this Sat., March 8
at Erb's Country Kitchen at 8:30 a.m. with speaker
being Fr. Peter Keller of St. Boniface Parish.

The annual meeting of the Bluewater Rest Home
will be held tonight Wed., March 5 at 7:30 p.m. at
the Zurich Mennonite Church. Everyone is invited.
Be sure and turn your clocks ahead one hour on
Saturday night, March 8, before going to bed; so you
won't be late for church on Sunday morning.
The school kids have their March Break next week
from Fri., March 7 through until Fri., March 14,
going back to school on St. Patrick's Day.
Free skating schedule
There will be free skating at the Zurich Complex
over the break for children and their families - (why
not clip and save): Fri., March 7-1 p.m. - 2:30 p.m.;
Sat., March 8-1 p.m - 1:50 p.m.; Mon., March
10-12:30 p.m. - 1:50 p.m.; Tues., March 11-1-2:30
p.m.; Wed., March 12-1 p.m.-2:30p.m.; Thurs.,
March 13-1 - 2:30 p.m.; Fri., March 14-1 - 2:30
p.m.
Lou and Delores Schitbe enjoyed a nice 17 day hol-
iday recently in Puerto Vallarta.
Bonnie Schenk recently spent three weeks in
Florida visiting with her parents Glen and Marg
Neeb.
Sherman and Jenny Roth spent the past six weeks
on holidays in Florida.
Students at St. Boniface School are busy learning
their lines for their production "High School
Musical" that will be held from April 16 - 18. The
directors are Dianne Miller, Harriet VanderBurgt,
Marianne Kellar, and teacher Sharon Stephens.
There will be a quilting bee at the Lutheran church
hall on Tues., March 11 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. then
again on Wed., March 12 from 9 a.m. to noon. They
will also be tying comforters; come out and give
them a helping hand.
There was a good turn out at the Town and
Country Lanes this past Saturday and Sunday after-
noon to Bowl for Kids' Sake, raising money for Big
Brothers Big Sisters' organization in Exeter.
Members from the Bluewater council were even out
doing their part.

Skating Carnival March 16
The Bluewater-Zurich Skating Club will be having
their carnival on Sun., March 16 at the complex at 2
p.m. with club members and guest skaters. This
year's theme will be "Dream a Little Dream With
Me." Mark it down and plan to attend as it is always
a good show.
St. Peter's CWL (St. Joseph's) held their meeting on
Tues., March 4 at the home of president Dianne
Tucker and are busy planning for their parish's
135th anniversary coming up this summer
Lions Club news
The Lions Club held their dinner/meeting on Feb.
27 at Erb's Country Kitchen. Minutes of the last
director's meeting were read by Lion Mark Tucker
with the treasurer report given by Lion Richard Erb.
Lion president John Becker went over the agenda
and up -coming events.
Their annual "Easter Egg Hunt" will be held on
Sat., March 22 at the Maverick Paint Ball auditorium
for all the children and their parents starting at 10
a.m. Lion Sherman Roth will chair this event with
the help of club members.
Their fish fry and silent auction is booked at the
arena complex for Fri., April 25 chaired by Lions
Richard Erb and Mark Tucker.
C.W.L. fun night
The C.W.L. fun night will be held in Goderich at the
K. of C. Hall this year on Tues., April 1. Dinner tick-
ets are $16 per person. If you are wanting to go call
Deb Pennings at 236-7750 as soon as possible,
before March 10.
Several members of the Zurich Skating club took
part in the Futures Competition held in Exeter over
the weekend on Saturday and Sunday (actually 18 in
all) and they will be doing their solos again at the
Zurich Carnival on March 16. Congratulations to
those that went home with medals!
Agricultural Society
The next Agricultural Society Fair board meeting
will be at the town hall on Thurs., March 13 at 7:30
p.m.
No one attended the convention in Toronto last
month. The District #8 spring workshop is on Sat.,
March 29 in Stratford at the Kinsmen Hall from 9
a.m. to 3 p.m. If you want to go call Margaret as
soon as possible this week at 236-4130.
The Golden Agers will have their meeting on Mon.,
March 10 at the town hall beginning at noon. Bring
a sandwich for lunch and the committee will serve
coffee and dessert. President is Bridget Groot.
Heart to Heart postponed to April 8
Zurich Mennonite Church is once again hosting the
spring session of Heart to Heart, a multi -denomina-
tional women's ministry for women of all ages and
from all walks of life. Join with other women for an
incredible fun -filled nine weeks!
There are seven different faith studies to choose
from, such as Bringing Up Boys, Love and Respect,
Becoming a Woman Who Listens to God, and more.
We also have many electives to choose from includ-
ing Basic Cooking, Kool Aid Jammers Bags, and oth-
ers.
Due to a flood in the church basement, the pro-
gram is postponed to begin Tues., April 8. Spring
session will run every Tuesday morning (9:30 a.m.-
12) from April 8 -June 3. Free babysitting is provid-

The 132nd Annual Meeting of the Usborne & Hibbert Mutual Fire
Company will be held at the Kirkton-Woodham Community
Centre at 2:00 p.m. on Mon., March 17, 2008, for presentation
of the Annual Report for 2007, to elect Directors and to transact
any business that may rightly come before the meeting.
Election of two Directors for a three year term will take place.
The Directors whose term of office expires are Tom Feeney and
Mike O'Shea, both of whom are eligible for
re-election.
Notice is hereby given that motions will be presented at our
Annual Meeting amending the by-laws of the Company as fol-
lows:
ARTICLE 21 - Any person wishing to seek election or re-election
as a Director must file his intention to stand for election in writ-
ing with the Secretary Manager of the Corporation at least 10
days in advance of an Annual Meeting or Special General
Meeting called for the purpose of electing Directors.

Library cart stocked
with new music,
movies and books
HENSALL — Sunday afternoon residents and
visitors gathered for an afternoon tea party in
the unit dining room on nursing home level.
Residents were pleased to serve their special
green iced and shamrock cookies they had
prepared at a recent baking group. Lace table-
cloths, china cups, piping hot tea and coffee
and lot's of congenial visiting completed the
event.
Lori Burt, registered massage therapist was
in Monday and welcomed by the many resi-
dents that benefit from her skill. The 10 a.m.
exercise group gathered in the sunroom and
energetically worked their way through their
routines lead by Nicole. In the afternoon the
Kippen United Church women provided assis-
tance and prizes for their last bingo of the
month. We look forward to seeing them again
in July.
Tuesday's church service was lead by Pastor
Jim Vellenga of the Bethel Reform Church in
Exeter. Idella Gabel was volunteer pianist and
residents were assisted by Kay Mock. Social
worker Shirley Hall was in throughout the day,
available to residents and their family mem-
bers.
Arts and crafts group focused residents
Wednesday afternoon as they worked on gift
tags. There is also a few ladies who meet
weekly for a knitting group. Some upcoming
projects include granny squares and dish
cloths for our fall craft and bake sale.
Lorne McKenzie, a one man band from the
Wingham area delivered a wonderful perfor-
mance for the February birthday party
Thursday afternoon, singing a variety of well
loved favourites from several decades.
Resident council met immediately following
exercises Friday morning to preview the
March calendar and offer input regarding
upcoming events, programs and trips they'd
like to see planned for the summer months.
Stratford park, Threshers Reunion in Blyth
and Clinton horse races were among the sug-
gestions put forward.
Friday afternoon volunteer Millie Hoggarth
presided over the library/tuck cart as she visit-
ed several customers on the nursing home
level. With the many new books, CDs and DVDs
on the cart there is much to offer those who
enjoy music, reading and movies and wish to
sign them out for a week or two. Residents
also benefited from music therapy, Lakeview
Gospel Singers, manicures, breakfast group,
and one to one visitations throughout the
week.
